I work in the city a few days per week and it can be a challenge to find midtown options for a solo diner: high-quality, high-flavor food that won’t cost me an arm and a leg and won’t require hours of my time. Fortunately I recently discovered The Hugh food hall, and after exploring the myriad dining options, I settled on ordering a combo of three fish tacos at Pesce Lulu Seafood Kitchen: grilled shrimp, roasted salmon, and mahi mahi. Not only were the tacos delicious—well seasoned and perfectly cooked—you could tell that the ingredients were fresh.
Everyone who works here is super friendly and helpful. I was particularly surprised by the excellent wines available, and the owner Jeff was happy to describe them and was so enthusiastic about the selections he did an impromptu wine tasting at the counter, letting me taste a few varietals before I chose a sauvignon blanc for my meal. (My companion had the Vermentino, which was also delicious.) I will definitely be a regular at Pesce Lulu; there’s a large menu with lots of appealing seafood choices, and the prices are gentle for fare of this elevated quality. But I’m always looking for good fish tacos, and now I...
Read moreI intend to try all vegetarian options in the menu. I love the cocktails, all. The concept behind the oceanic food plus restaurant name, Pesce Lulu - located in the center of the Hugh is very attractive, almost like a private island. Truly under the sea vibes.
02/12/2025 I am truly dissatisfied with the restaurant for the fact of ingredients contents in high cholesterol lard & the sauces are not a match to its original cultural food cuisine 🤷🏻♀️ I am a strict vegan & fish is not vegan/ vegetarian nor the best health food to consume. I am just not into the high cholesterol ingredients and deep fry fries or nachos.
Today I had to throw in the Hugh’s trash can the pesce lulu food I purchased online. Truly disappointed & disgusted,🤮. NEVER AGAIN.
It is not about the price of the food but the quality of food, & food in high cholesterol is a big NO NO NO NO.
I will treat all my homeless friends that always hang out in the Hugh to avocaderia - the healthiest...
Read moreWithout the discounted Groupon, I would have felt like this was an incredibly overpriced restaurant for the food, service and ambiance. With that said, it was still expensive for the amount and quality of food. The fish fingers and chips had such unbelievably thick breading that you practically needed a magnifying glass to find the tiny pieces of fish! I asked if the thick fries were crispy and got an affirmative, but they were far from that. The Mahi skewer platter with two sides was tasty, but a pretty meager portion for the price...same thing goes for the Mahi burger. I was told we could get a carafe of ice water, but when I asked, I got three cups of tap water with ice. This is a high-end food court in an interesting building, but there are too many other restaurants I wish to try on my next visit to NYC to...
