Jane is probably the worst club manager I had a deal with. I have been a member for almost two years. I signed up at the Lex/53 location, and initially, it was a magical place to work out. Unfortunately, things have changed dramatically over the last year. At some point, there was a significant employee rotation, and management hired individuals who are far removed from the customer service industry. The staff at the front desk frequently ignore customers, often engrossed in their computers or cell phones. Checking in feels like a burden for them, creating inconvenience for customers like myself, as I don’t feel welcomed. The music selection has also changed, and not for the better. During mornings and weekends when the manager is absent, the staff at the register play aggressive rap music laden with profanity. Whenever I request a change of station, I am met with a dismissive attitude. Trainers have become overly friendly with customers, which isn’t necessarily negative, but they often congregate during peak times, monopolizing machines and preventing other customers from using them. The men’s locker room has become unsanitary and resembles a dormitory shower room. Waiting for a free locker can take up to 20 minutes, and there is always aggressive sports programming on the television, which is not suitable for a gym environment. Initially, there was visually appealing content with peaceful music playing from the speakers. Additionally, the spa attendant frequently socializes in the locker room, engaging in inappropriate conversations that are not conducive to a welcoming atmosphere at TMPL. In conclusion, TMPL has undergone significant changes, and in my opinion, it no longer reflects the standards it once upheld. Despite speaking to the manager and having heartfelt conversations, I was informed that the Lex/53 location caters to a different clientele. However, it is evident that management is not familiar with the Broken Windows theory, which suggests that certain environments attract specific behaviors. I believe that fundamental changes are needed at this location and top management supervision is highly recommend.

TMPL Lexington wheeew ☺️👏🏾 This place screams Luxury, Lush, Modern , chic and 7stars in my books. I’ve got nothing but good words to say about this place. Kudos to the entire Management team here, they are doing exceptionally well in keeping this facility well maintained. From the Entrance to the Elevator/ stairs to the front desk, lounge area, Equipments, locker and Shower rooms, to the Spa area everything is in TipTop condition 👌🏽 Shout to to Jane and William for hooking me up with a day pass (I had no plans to becoming a member tbh) which later turned into me being a member to the club in the same day just because of how impressed I was( best 3hrs I’ve ever spent anywhere). I’ve been to a couple other gyms around the city but TMPL takes it to a whole different level. Like they say there are levels to Luxury I kid you not, TMPL Lexington takes that too seriously 😄🔥👌🏽i’m obsessed with the vibe here, and If they had a pool I don’t think I’ll go to any other gym ever 😂 Shout you to my boy Saul for coaching me in the Cold plunge for the first time ever. I did the impossible. Never thought I would’ve ever! but he guided me through it and best feeling ever. TMPL I’m a huge fan already ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

I visited this gym on Thursday morning from 8.30 am -12 pm. The gym looks very cool, and he yellow lights, great music makes you feel like you just entered the night club and ready to dance, but on a treadmill 😅lol. The gym is located on lower level of the building so there are no windows there. It feels like you getting into rabbits hole from “Alice in wonderland “ which was pretty cool. I liked the gym, it was not crowded. The whole equipment is brand new. It’s very clean everywhere and the staff is very nice. Especially, a huge appreciation to a nice Spanish speaking lady who was cleaning the women’s changing rooms. She was very friendly and assisted me with a password to Wi-Fi. By the way, there is bad connection there and I couldn’t make calls. But once you connect to Wi-Fi which works perfectly the problem is solved. I would really recommend this gym. I want to add that they play really nice music there. And the berry on the cake was amazing spa experience. The music makes you feel really relaxed, the eucalyptus sauna and salt sauna are great. They are not big though, but everyone was fit . After all, I would really recommend you to give this gym a try. You would love it.

I first came to this location here right when it opened to check out all the great new things about the machines and building layout. I typically workout at the HK location as it’s been closer to home and work for me in the past. After trying out this spot a few times I couldn’t take it. I left and haven’t visited in almost a year and came back to see if maybe things got better. My friends and i had left feedback with a manager about major misses about the gym that were easy fixes hoping to set this gym up for better experience for their clients. I came back too see if things got any better…and it’s exactly as I remembered it. There are several major distinctions about this location that creates a really frustrating experience which is really a shame b/c it has so much potential. What’s unfortunate is that the HK locations is smaller, but you can get a great workout in half the time b/c it’s more organized and the clients have better gym etiquette.

Things that are major misses: [ ] The free weights are a disaster. Completely in disarray. The wracks that hold all the dumb s are not labeled for users to know where to place them back creating a game of ‘Where’s Waldo’ every time you want to grab a weight. Granted the clients lack common sense as well as they just place weights wherever they please. Also, the order of the weights that is initially set up by the gym is prone for injury as weights starting at 125lbs -140lbs are placed on the top portion of the wracks vs the bottom. All weights 100lbs and above would be best suited to be on the bottom wracks to avoid injury. [ ] Clients love using benches and moving them wherever they need throughout the gym, but do not return them leaving you yet again to hunt for equipment. You’ll find the free weights section half the time missing half the benches b/c of this issue. [ ] The men’s lockers have this random living room section with a giant screen tv when we barely have enough locker and benches for out things. No one is ever sitting there watching tv. It’s so awkward if you think about. Do you want to be on a leather couch while guys are changing 1 foot away from you? Also, it’s ALWAYS so hot in there. No air flow and you’re constantly sweating. [ ] There is a definite need for additional cable machines. It’s popular and you have to run to grab it as soon as it’s free. [ ] Not sure what the front lounge area with couches is for. Waste of space that could be utilized for more issuable gym space. [ ] It’s a hit or miss with the front desk employees personalities. Some are friendly and some seem like they’re working here begrudgingly. [ ] Not enough weight plates. Another thing you have to hunt for. [ ] Weekends they close at 4pm. Compared to the other locations this closes the earliest, and the spa area closes at 3pm making everyone crowd and rush into the space. [ ] The clients at this location lack major gym etiquette and are inconsiderate. They grab several pairs of weights and equipment to create their own personal area to workout out when it’s busy all while trying to use up to 3 different prices if equipment so they can super set. Half the time they leave the weights where they worked out and walk away not placing them back. [ ] Squat and bench press wracks: you have to wait a very long time to use them. People stay on them on average of 20-30 mins.

Things that are good: lots of various machines for all muscle groups. has a sauna, steam room, cool and hot pools, ice baths. everything in the gym is brand new and...

EditThe TMPL Lexington baths have been closed for 18 months. With TMPL Madison opening, it's plain to see why the TMPL baths at Lexington haven't reopened: to drive members to the Madison location with it's own (non-complementary) spa and higher membership fees. It's unlikely TMPL Lexington's baths will ever open again and the past year of "repairs" were merely a bait and switch to keep members around. Very shady business practices; I really hope I'm wrong.

As far as I can see, TMPL Lexington is probably the best gym in Midtown East. The facilities are stylish and catered to young professionals that work in the area and want an elevated experience. If you want to work out in a gym that's centrally located and whose patronage are young, athletic New Yorkers, this is the gym for you. This is not to say that it is without its problems, of which there are some considerable ones.

This gym has become an absolute madhouse. Gym owners seem to have no cap in mind when it comes to membership numbers, as you'll regularly see them giving tours of gym facilities daily while the locker rooms resemble a crowded concert bathroom. Numerous times I've found myself pulling out a laptop or book to finish some work through peak hours because there's absolutely no hope of getting an uninterrupted workout in. For those with busy NYC schedule, this can be a non-starter.

The owners also seem uninterested in providing above-and-beyond customer service once they have you subscribed. The sauna has been partially closed for nearly a year, and repairs have only just begun, most likely due to time-consuming work permit proceedings. While this is understandable, there was literally zero communication with the community throughout. Members were told that the spa would be at full capacity within weeks, month after month, quarter after quarter, until the closure exceeded more than half a year, consistently disappointing visitors rather than being frank and honest. For the price you pay at this gym, there should be a dedicated customer experience team mitigating this ongoing issue.

With that said, I still believe you'd be hard-pressed to find a better gym experience in the area as the nearby Equinox gyms are too expensive with little to justify it and nearby NYSC/Blink/Crunch gyms are nowhere near as nice. TMPL's nicely positioned in the middle with good value. Hopefully, TMPL can improve even further by taking these notes into consideration rather than flooding Google reviews with identical, formulaic reviews to hide the true...

Although I do like this gym, I have to say that the ice plunge bath today was absolutely disgusting

edit: from 3 stars to 1 star

I could have wrote a lot more than the original, but Jane the manager decided to walk around the gym and search for me today because of my review. I was already receiving phone calls from her 10 minutes after I left this review WHILE I WAS STILL WORKING OUT.

The ice plunge bath actually made me ITCHY which I left out in my original review. 3 stars was gracious, but Jane is a total boundary crosser.

This is extremely inappropriate, I suspect that she must have searched up my name and found my photo in their system or racially profiling me. Did she also harass other members at the gym while looking for me? Probably. She then asked me to remove my review repeatedly which I said I don't feel comfortable doing.

My phone died and when I recharged my phone I saw an incoming call from her before my lock screen even showed up. She continued to spam call my phone. After reading some other reviews for this location, I decided to text her instead to have evidence in case of change in story. She texted me and claimed she was calling to say she was sorry. She isn't sorry, she could care less that I got a rash. She just wants this review removed which I will NOT be doing.

You can see other people's reviews on yelp about them harassing members to remove their reviews. She is aggressive at what she wants.

You can also see my other reviews that I have only given out 5 stars. I only use reviews to encourage people to go to great establishments but my experience today was so bad that I had to write this. I will tell everyone I know not to sign up for a membership here, please be careful. It is difficult to find a nice gym in the city but why would you pay 200$ to be harassed?

If anyone at this establishment higher than Jane would like to reach out to me then feel free. It is unacceptable that the highest person in management here crosses every line and is extremely invasive. You claim to be an inclusive space for all but only until your reputation/money is on the line.

I have multiple gym memberships for convenience and even my 10$ membership at blink treats me better than this.

Edit 3: So they decided to respond under this review. “ Our team has addressed this as soon as we received your review.” Yeah, you guys addressed it by telling me to remove my review. More...
