Don't waste your time here. The service is absolutely horrible. I made a reservation here a week in advance for a Wednesday night at 8:30 pm for a group of 6 ladies. One person from my party arrived at 8:30 and the rest of us came in at 8:37. The host said he didn't have a reservation for us despite me showing him the confirmation text and resy confirmation. He said that they didn't do anything and he didn't know what was wrong and for us to go to the bar upstairs while he figured something out. Mind you the club was barely at 50% capacity and their website strongly encourages walk ins (yah right). After 10 mins went by we went downstairs as the performance we had come to see was about to start to see if they had "figured something out". The host had spoken on the phone to the manager and their conclusion was to sit the 6 of us in this weird side bar area. Given there were 5 other 6 top booths that only had 2 people at each of them, I thought this seemed like an odd suggestion. While this was happening the host continued to adamantly deny they cancelled the reservation and that I had cancelled it at 6:26 am that morning as if I sleep phone in hand with compulsions to cancel resy's. Please. I told him that playing this pointing fingers game is not helpful to anyone and that we just wanted to have a good time and see live music so we will take the bar stools along the wall and we would appreciate if they comped us a round of drinks. The host finally agreed and then about 10+ minutes later after we put in our drink orders he came over to tell us he couldn't comp those drinks and would comp a shot. I'm sorry it was a Wed night and I came to a jazz/cocktail lounge not a sports bar. It's offensive you offered us a "shot". Again we had to get into another conversation about who's fault this was instead of just taking care of your guests who if the situation would have been different would have ordered multiple drinks per person and food. Now, it is 9:18 and we've been at this place for 40 mins...we've missed half of the performance we came to see and never got a drink. At that point, we took our business elsewhere but I can't get that time back. Given the multiple employees/management contributing to the decision making process of how to treat their customers....you couldn't pay me to go back to this place. And with bad experiences, you...
Read moreI’ll lead with the pluses of this adorable speakeasy-esque lounge. The ambiance is 💯. The decor is fantastic, ordained in a snazzy Oriental style complete with red couches and bright red and gold wallpaper. The dim lighting plays well with the faux privacy curtains and antique lamps, giving it a very sultry feel. Every so often a lovely jazz singer will serenade you, and so far the ones I’ve seen have been particularly talented. Also notable is that the lounge doesn’t get overcrowded, but reservations are definitely recommended.
If you get lost on the way - yes it’s the random unmarked door between two restaurants on 7th Ave, down the weird looking stairs and through the unmarked basement door. If you think you’re doing it wrong, you’re not, keep going 🤣
The staff is awesome and friendly, the only downside being there want enough of them last night. There was one bar tender, one hostess/busser, and one server. That was clearly understaffed for a lounge of this size and popularity.
Also the drinks - last time we were here I love them. This time they were a bit strong for my taste, but I give Coby Club props for ingenuity on the cocktail menu options.
(PS, we’ve eaten here, the food is 👌)
All in all Coby Club is a great spot to stop in...
Read moreThis place is a joke, much like the bartender and service crew Wednesday night. Facts:
We show up early, around 8p with no reservation. Hostess tells us all the couches are booked and then seats us in a small hightop in the corner behind the band…like we were rejects.
Place was empty. As a matter of fact the place was completely empty for the entire time we were there. Why do arrogant places like this play these stupid games???
During that time, service was literally non-existent. We actually witnessed multiple parties get up and walk to the bar to order or close out their tabs because the server was too busy chatting to his bartender buddy or checking his phone.
When it was time to close out my tab, no server was anywhere to be found so I went to the bar and the funny part is they had an attitude back. And then proceeded to accuse me of being drunk. Mind you, this was our first stop of the night and the service was so pathetically slow that I was able to only order one drink. Yet they had the audacity to lie and talk back to a customer.
Joke of a place. Joke of a management.
