Zero stars if I could give it.
I NEVER write reviews, but this place has such terrible terrible food quality that I was COMPELLED to write a review so as to specifically warn YOU, my friend, to avoid eating here. I literally was so overcome with disgust and disappointment that I got off of my lazy butt to type a review for a business that I don't care about in the least bit.
Not only am trying to I save you from wasting your hard earned money, but I'm also saving you the sadness of discovering what a disappointment this place is – followed by the mild sense of anger that you've been cheated – accompanied by the troubling uncertainty about whether you will actually get a stomach ache or diarrhea (or worse) later from consuming food that has clearly sat all day (and in all likeliness all of yesterday and the day before) to be re-fried and packaged for you to be thoroughly disappointed by when you get to eat it.
This place used to be terrific! The food used to be delicious and freshly made and it was a weekly treat that we enjoyed. We've been away from the area for a few years now but today, my wife had an errand to run in the neighborhood so she stopped by to pick up some of the popcorn fried chicken, french fries, fried tempura, fried squid balls, fried skewers (squid/octopus, chicken hearts, chicken kidneys).
I cannot sufficiently describe the dried out, tough, rock hard texture of the mixed skewers that we got. The chicken hearts and kidneys were so dried out that they basically melded together with the wooden skewers they were attached to. The fried tempura was so old that the texture was more mush (think overcooked sweet potato) than the 'Q' that is characteristic of this type of treat. The lamb skewers were so dried out and old that they became flavorless to the point where the uniquely identifying gaminess of lamb/goat meat was completely missing. It was so uncertain in flavor and so unidentifiable in appearance (black and dried and tough throughout) that my wife questioned whether it was lamb at all – hinting semi-jokingly that maybe it was rat meat?!
I have no animus toward this business or its workers or owner – except for the money we basically donated ... and the sense of guilt for throwing away food instilled in me by my first gen immigrant parents... and the regret that I put that garbage into my body... and the paranoia that I'm going to have some kind of explosive bowel issue later or tomorrow.
All I can say is, "Trust me bro", you will want to take a pass on this one and instead give away your money to the homeless person that lives under the LIRR underpass across the street. That way at least some good karma might come back to you and you can feel good about something... instead of waiting for the inevitable mess that will be cleaning up the...
Read moreI’ll be real honest with y’all. This place is far from my perfect radar or description. It sits in a random corner of what I like to call the “Chinatown of Elmhurst” near queens center mall. They have 2 random ads posted on the glass panel of the side to the entrance. You walk in and see 2-3 tables with seats not much for dining in. The menu is labeled English subbed with Chinese or Korean handwriting I can’t really tell. The sizes for the cups are only medium and large with large being barely bigger but more than a dollar on the price. There are food options to eat here but more so just appetizers and they cost a bit much given the portions. I gave this place a 2 star rating just for the flavor alone as in they had a bunch but I went with passion fruit and their signature lychee with jelly which by the way was as bland as sugar water. No strong flavor and the jelly was kind of rough instead of smooth to eat. Don’t take my word for it tho if you really want to try it for yourself go right ahead. Come with cash because the sales tax on the card machine is just...
Read moreI used to go here everyday after work, but since I was moved to a different location I haven't been going as much. Anyway I've never had a bad experience. Once me and my sister ordered a drink and she hated it. The guy made her a brand new one. This is why me, my friends, and family only get bubble tea here. We go whenever we are in the neighborhood or have a craving for bubble tea which is quite often. I don't think the service is bad. They are quite efficient at what they do and their speed is amazing. They even know about flavors and flavor combinations. (Me and my sister were actually warned about the flavor combination so he wasn't surprised) I think they are just shy, quiet, and to themselves. The workers there just don't show personality and I think that is because they are shy and just do their job. Not everyone has to show enthusiasm. I joke with them and they smile. People forget it is not only their attitude but it is their own as well. I would definitely recommend this place. The flavors are amazing and the staff are...
