Ralph's is a family owned business which started in Staten Island, NY in the late 1920s and which now has a new location here in Astoria. Personally, it gives me a lot of hope to see new businesses opening up but I'm especially glad to see one with a NY pedigree like Ralph's.
Ralph's is mainly known for their really great Italian ice. I've been to some of their other locations and have tried many flavors offered in their huge menu but my go to is the watermelon ices. It's so refreshing, light and tasty. So today, for their Astoria Grand opening, I just had to order a pint of their watermelon ices. Ralph's menu also has various home made ice cream, sundaes, shakes, fruit smoothies and icebergs (smoothie with soft ice cream).
This new location is right off 30th Avenue. Go right up to the outdoor window to order a treat to go. Right now they are only taking credit card or mobile pay. And don't forget to ask for their rewards card. The 10th item (ices or ice cream) is free with the...

So I rinsed it under hot water for a while, and confirmed that it was NOT sugar. There were numerous pieces of broken glass in the ice cream!!
I tried calling Ralph's to let them know, but apparently nobody answers the phone there anymore. I also reached out to the doctor, super nervous that I might've ingested some glass.
It's so sad, because I used to love their flavors. But after this incident, I can never feel safe getting anything from...
Read moreThe customer service is just...No, wait. There is NO customer service since the employees just have their friends there, hang out with them and expressing themselves in profound language. The one girl (employee) was literally standing 2 feet away from me and telling her friends how some "annoying customer asked for vanilla ice cream" and they didn't have it ipn stock but the customer kept and kept asking about options available. Like what?! The demeanor was awful as well with the attitude like "I'm busy talking to my friends why you here". What is this even? Like you want a job but think it's about giving an attitude and make fun of your customers? Well, at least thank you for not flipping us off, greatly...
