So..the reviews are really good so my family (on vacation in New York) chose this restaurant specifically because of the reviews. First of all, the food was good, not the best I’ve ever tasted, but good. The ambiance was fun. It was VERY loud but only because there were a ton of people there. As a result, we had to shout to speak to the server and to each other. Due to this, the hubby and the kids ended up playing on their phones most of the time since we couldn’t hear each other and didn’t feel like shouting. The prices are high. I ordered a sangria….I was shocked when the bill had a $22 on it for that sangria!!!! There are no prices on the “drink” menu. I repeatedly asked the price of the sangria before ordering it but 1) the server couldn’t hear me, 2) she did not speak English very well and did not understand what I was asking. Like I said, the food was good. The kids ordered multiple refills of coke…it would have been nice to know we were being charged for EVERY refill. No one bothered to tell us that. So our bill for 2 adults and 2 kids (14 and 11) was just over $200. We only had one alcoholic drink but numerous coke refills, and 4 entrees. I thought it was quite expensive. I’m not sure why Google has this place listed as only $$. Overall we did enjoy the...
Read moreGreat place, great food, great staff. May I recommend the Chicken Enchiladas with the Salsa Verde. The shredded chicken has flavor on its own but is upgraded with the Salsa verde and the melted cheese on top. The Carne Asada Tacos are simple yet delicious. Topped off with guac and on grilled onions. They aren't the typical bigger tacos we get. They are on the smaller side which can perhaps be eaten in two bites. The Nachos are a great starter to your meal. They are not your typical stacked up nachos with shreddes cheese, lettuce & mid tortilla chips that have the sodium levels through the roof. With these nachos you can taste each ingredient in every bite- Melted cheese, refried beans, jalapeños, Mexican cream & cheese. Definitely taste more homey. The Guacamole is pretty decent, taste fresh and appropriately salted. The one downside, in my opinion, are the portions. And I'm speaking specifically for the food that I got. For example you only get two enchiladas when in most restaurants, standard is 3. The tacos are, like I said, on the smaller side. And the nachos are smaller portions compared to others. Just keeping in mind these are Manhattan prices we're paying. BUT, they definitely have quality. And if I had to choose, I would definitely choose quality...
Read moreHaving visited a few Mexican restaurants whilst in Mamhatten, this was by far the best. The food and drinks were all amazing and the staff were really friendly and accommodating, despite us arriving at 10pm when it looked like they were getting ready to close.
We sat down and they immediately came over with glasses and water and took our drinks order. My wife ordered a strawberry margarita and I had a long island iced tea. Both were really good.
We noticed on the menu it says "ask your waiter for complimentary chips and salsa", so we did as well as ordering our starters and main meals. The chips and salsa were promptly brought over. When I ordered these at another Mexican close to Times Square we were charged $5 so this was a nice touch.
We had the Tortilla tomato soup for starters and it was perfect, best I've had. It had a spicy kick which I like.
For our main courses, I ordered the Enchiladas and my wife had the fajitas.
The food was brought quickly and was nice and hot (the fajitas sizzling). All the food was presented really well and was all delicious.
We had another round of cocktails and the total bill came in under $100. We were happy with the value of this place and it was a shame we found it so late in our holiday otherwise we'd definitely...
