Terra Dental — Local services in New York

I never thought I'd describe a dentist visit as epic, but this place was really impressive. The care was top notch and the clinic feels like it's from the future, really thoughtfully designed, more like a museum than any dental office i've been to. Family run clinic with just Dr. Suh, so I got what felt like a very personalized experience.

The waiting room already feels like you're at a luxury spa, with comfortable couches and sleek decoration rather than the typical assortment of sterile plastic chairs and old magazines. The receptionist, Marla (sp?) was patient in guiding me through some of the housekeeping. Most the paperwork was done online ahead. Started on time, no waiting, so we're off to a strong start.

Dr. Suh is very attentive, over-communicated the issues, i.e. my cavities, and outlined the best remedies. This included why in some cases she thought preventative measures made sense for me in the long term instead of getting straight to drilling, unless it was really necessary. The rest of the staff that assisted Dr. Suh were also fantastic.

All of the equipment was new and state-of-the-art, including this device that could create a 3D model of my teeth in a few seconds that could be displayed on an mega sized ipad type thing (I wish I took a picture of this, was truly futuristic feeling). Was a helpful to have that visual tool to be able to rotate it around and zoom in like a Google maps of my mouth while discussing the various dental matters. Super intuitive.

Extra brownie points for supplying Gentle Monster sunglasses (didn't expect something so trendy at the dentist lol) so the lights aren't so bright while they're doing their work, as well as sound cancelling headphones to play music over the sound of dental tools. This was the best dentist’s visit that I have ever experienced! Previously, I have struggled so much to find a dentist in Manhattan that I like. After one visit to Terra, I know this will be my go-to dentist! Here’s why:

Dr. Suh is the most professional dentist ever! She takes time to explain everything to you in a very thorough way. You can tell that she is very experienced and has encountered many different types of patients’ dental situations in the past. Also, she suggests only necessary treatments and never pushes anything unnecessary! I was very impressed by the technology they used. For example, they have a machine that takes a 3D scan of your teeth. I haven’t seen that before at other dentists’ offices. That helped me understand what’s going with my teeth and why certain treatments are needed. The office decor is absolutely gorgeous and clean. It feels more like being at a spa than at a dentist’s office. Every aspect of my interaction with Terra- starting with booking my visit to end of the procedure— was so seamless and pleasant. The staff is also very responsive. There was zero wait when I arrived at my appointment. They paid a lot of attention to small details that make a patient feel welcome and cozy. For example, they give to each patient a dental-related gift to help them keep better dental hygiene. It’s such a nice touch. I visited Dr Joyce Suh’s new practice Terra Dental after hearing that she had just opened up a new dental practice. I had an issue where two of my veneers were started to turn black because of a root canal treatment I had behind those teeth. I saw multiple dentists who recommended all sorts of solutions, ranging from veneer replacement ($5K) to crowns ($10K) and not fully covered by insurance due to this being a cosmetic treatment. Dr. Suh was very honest and suggested a much simpler and lower-cost solution to have my teeth bleached instead of replacing what I have. Within 3 days I already noticed a huge improvement and 3 weeks later my teeth literally look like new.

I would highly recommend Dr Suh to anyone seeking honest, quality and affordable dental treatment. And the cherry on the cake is that this is probably the most comfortable and aesthetically pleasing dental office I’ve ever visited! No harsh white lights and unfriendly dental hygienists.
