Reverie Brooklyn is, without question, my favorite City Roots restaurant.
The space is breathtaking—an intimate collision of old-world mystique and modern precision. It feels carved out of time: minimalist, but warm; grounded, yet ethereal. Like a place built for rituals of beauty and nourishment. And the food lives fully in that energy—carefully composed, deeply intentional, and unforgettable.
Every dish that hit the table felt like a complete idea—flavor-forward, stunningly plated, and layered with technique and texture that made each bite feel like a story unfolding.
The caramelized onion filo was one of the most striking things I’ve tasted in recent memory. It had this perfect contrast—crackling pastry giving way to creamy, tangy, slow-cooked depth. It was sweet, earthy, and savory all at once, with this subtle brightness that kept it alive on the palate. I would have ordered five more.
The parsnip truffle vol-au-vent was a study in restraint and richness—delicate, airy pastry filled with the kind of silky, umami-forward purée that makes you close your eyes and slow down. Earthy, elegant, quietly powerful.
The lamb pockets were bold and addictive—crisp on the outside, fragrant and warmly spiced within. Every bite hit with deep flavor and a low, satisfying heat, balanced beautifully by a creamy, cooling dip. Total comfort food, but dressed up and full of complexity.
Then the whipped ricotta brioche—this was pure opulence. A beautifully plush base holding bright, creamy, salty, and silky elements all at once. Every component played a role; nothing was there for show. It was indulgent without being heavy, and somehow still managed to taste fresh.
The Korean BBQ chicken skewers were sticky, smoky, and perfectly charred, layered with sweet heat and funk and freshness. You got everything: depth from the glaze, punch from the kimchi, softness from the rice, and this herbal lift that tied it all together.
Even the citrus salad was unforgettable. It wasn’t just a palate cleanser—it was a full experience. Sharp, juicy, floral, and crunchy, with notes that felt almost perfumed. It hit every taste receptor, but still felt light as air.
And the desserts? Devastatingly good. The passionfruit tart was like eating light—bright, velvety, and tropical with this whisper of florals and buttery depth underneath. Meanwhile, the candy bar mousse cake was pure decadence: rich, nostalgic, and luxurious, with every texture accounted for. It felt like childhood, but in black tie.
The chef is a true visionary—there’s a clarity and confidence to every plate that feels rare. And the staff was incredibly kind and attentive, without a hint of pretense. They clearly care deeply about what they’re serving, and it shows.
If I could eat here every day, I would. Reverie isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an offering. A place where craft, care, and creativity converge into something singular. It’s plant-based fine dining that doesn't need to prove...
Read moreAs a long-time admirer of Chef Guy’s culinary magic, I’ve had the pleasure of dining at every one of his restaurants, and let me say, Reverie in Brooklyn is his most imaginative creation yet. Known for transforming everyday dishes into jaw-dropping, plant-based marvels that look like they were dreamt up in a futuristic food lab, Chef Guy once again proves that decadence and veganism go hand in hand.
We celebrated my son’s birthday at Reverie, making it a full family affair. My kids, now seasoned fans of Chef Guy themselves, were just as thrilled as I was to experience this new addition to the City Roots family. From start to finish, the evening felt like an elevated celebration of flavor, creativity, and warmth.
The menu struck a perfect balance between bold innovation and comfort food. The spicy tuna cones were an absolute standout, delicate yet bursting with flavor. The charred broccolini, so well seasoned and perfectly sautéed, was devoured by my six-year-old (a feat in itself). The Korean BBQ chicken served over a bed of rice was a masterclass in umami and texture , a plant-based protein so satisfying, you won’t miss the original.
And let’s talk about desserts, we ordered every single one. Why choose when everything looks like edible art? Each dessert had its own wow-factor, both in presentation and flavor. It was impossible to pick a favorite.
The mocktails deserve their own spotlight. The Imperial Zen and the Golden Oasis were refreshingly complex and paired beautifully with each dish. No alcohol needed when the beverages are this thoughtfully crafted.
I’ve celebrated all my kids’ birthdays across Chef Guy’s restaurants, and Reverie felt like the perfect next chapter in that tradition. With its sleek, modern vibe and dishes that dazzle both adults and kids alike, Reverie is more than just a restaurant, it’s a celebration of plant-based brilliance. I truly cannot recommend it enough. Chef Guy has outdone...
Read moreStepped into Reverie recently, and wow – even for someone who usually sticks to meat and dairy, this place completely blew me away. Seriously, if you're ever in Williamsburg, you have to check this place out.
Their plant-based dishes aren't just good, but they can drive anyone off their feet with their visuals and artistry.
I kicked things off with a caramelized Onion Filo. Imagine biting into something so light and flaky it practically shatters, revealing a warm, creamy center. It felt like a gourmet party – savory, rich, and just melted in your mouth. The labneh and the grated tomatoes amplified that Middle Eastern flair.
Then came the Pastrami Sliders, and these were the real showstoppers, not just as a visual temptation. They tasted so authentic, with that smoky, hearty flavor and juicy texture. Each slider was a burst of satisfying flavor that just made me go, 'Wait, this is vegan?' Incredible! And the campfire potatoes were dancing with the lime cilantro aioli. A must-have!
To finish la fiesta, the Passion Fruit Tart was like sunbeams on a plate. Super bright and tangy, it was the perfect refreshing counterpoint to everything else. Balanced, elegant, and left a delightful zesty taste. The edible golden touch was just superb.
Reverie isn't just making vegan food; they're creating culinary magic that impresses everyone. Every dish felt crafted with care and a serious passion for flavor. Whether you're vegan, curious, or like me, usually a skeptic, you owe it to your taste buds to try this place. Can't wait to go back and try out some...
