Disappointed in the "flagship" dealership of triumph
Worked with a salesman and negotiated the price Deal finalized. I cancelled my conversations with other dealers. I was requested to reach there with a bank check in the middle of a work day. Deal was now or never sort of Reached there with bank check. Bike was in Warehouse. I never got to see the bike. No problems, and I understand showrooms are small, and not all bikes are on display, but this should have been clarified before I was asked to come in.
Gave the bank check, and then the fees started popping up.
The bike had to come with free panniers. I requested to change the color of panniers, and was also willing to pay extra for the different color. The different color panniers had a $160+ installation fee. Not sure why different color panniers had an installation but original color didn't. Had been discussing delivery of bike to NJ since beginning of negotiation. The delivery now was stated as $250.
At this point I requested to return my bank check. The salesman and manager realized that this would not great, so they decided to honor my requests, which was great.
The panniers were ordered and I paid extra for the new color, and requested the bike to be delivered with panniers installed in about a week Bike was delivered on promised date, but no panniers Minutes after the delivery guy left, the bike wouldn't start. Called dealership, and the manager. No response. Brand new bike! Won't start!! They had absolutely minimal to no QA check before delivering product to their clients
Texted manager and he responded. Not even a single apology for lack in service. He texted back that he will ask a service person to look at it tomorrow morning Next morning sales person reached out. And we decided to jump start the bike. It started. It was a faulty battery. No apologies from manager. Asked salesman when the panniers would be available. He said service department would reach out. Called service department after a week. The panniers had been sitting with him for some time. They never bothered to call me to let me know they are here.
I finally drove to pick up the panniers
Overall a sub optimal experience with triumph...
Read moreI've lived in NYC for 41 years, first Governors Island, then Staten Island, my current home. In those four decades I always bought motorcycles from dealerships on Staten Island or in New Jersey. On Saturday (August 17, 2024) I decided to check out Triumph Brooklyn. I'm glad I did! My initial contact was via text - I interacted with Emily "Em" Bennett who was very helpful. She indicated that the dealership would accept my Honda VT750 as a trade in on a Triumph Speed 400. And so I visited the shop. We worked out a deal to everyone's satisfaction. Buying a bike takes time. The trade in has to be examined by a mechanic, the new bike has to be prepped and the paperwork has to be completed. The dealership has their legal requirements (lots of forms) and New York State has to get their vig: DMV fees and of course taxes. This gave Em and I ample time to talk and I enjoyed it. A native West Virginian, she's led an interesting life. So we had a nice chat. I was pleased to hear that she rides - it makes a difference. Once my 750 was found to be in good working order I met with Ryan Schlenger who did the financial paperwork. He's a super nice guy who made it painless. He also rides so he gets it. Once GEICO and the DMV stirred themselves into action I was good to go. I met with the boss, a very nice guy named Amari who presented me with a very cool Triumph Brooklyn t-shirt. I left the dealership a happy camper. And I left after spending only half a day dealing with the formalities and with my wallet in good shape. Everyone was great, what us geezer bikers call Good People. BTW, I love the Triumph Speed 400. Fit and finish is excellent and it performs well. I strongly recommend Triumph Brooklyn. The BQE is another matter but riding home on a great bike after obtaining a good deal took some of the sting out of sitting in traffic on the...
Read moreI have ordered parts here two times. I wish there was another option in NYC for a triumph dealership. The first time I ordered parts I didn't hear anything from them for a month. When I called to follow up, they had no idea who I was and it took forever to figure out what I had ordered. I was told to call back the following week. I did, and they didn't have the parts and I was told to call back the following week again. The following week I called and was told they had the parts I ordered. I went to pick them up and when I got there was informed that the parts had been "stolen at a party they had the week before", even though I had just spoken to the rep on the phone an hour earlier. I left and when they finally got the parts over a week later (bringing the total timeline to over two months) they refunded me for the money, and hooked up the parts (about $100). It was the right thing to do and was happy with how they chose to handle it, though I would have rather had paid for the parts and received them in a timely manner. I recently ordered another set of parts (over $350) and didn't hear from them for 6 weeks. I called and asked if the parts had arrived and was told that one of the 5 parts I ordered was there. I had to tell the rep what I had already paid for more than just one item and had to help him to find the invoice to understand what I was calling about. I know that businesses have a lot of moving pieces, but this place isn't run like a motorcycle dealership, it's run like a rich kids frat house. They are more focused on Instagram and partying than actually selling and riding motorcycles. It's disappointing that there is not a more professional demeanor befitting a...
