We were excited to dine here as we had just arrived in New York for our anniversary weekend, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing.
The restaurant itself is charming and the bread we started with was delicious. We were greeted by one server at the beginning who was super nice (I wish we had her the entire time) but after she greeted us/took our starters she said she was leaving and a new server would come by and she switched out, which was fine, but the new server never introduced herself and hardly came to the table. Along with the bread we ordered mussels to start, which were a huge letdown…many were chewy, cold, stuck to the shell, and completely lacking flavor. I love mussels and was excited to try them here, but they were nearly inedible. We even had to spit some out, and after sitting with the untouched dish for about 20 minutes, I finally told the new server they were bad. She simply took them away without saying a word.
The rigatoni and Caesar salad we ordered afterward were good, and the affogato tasted fine but was shockingly small, just three tiny bites of ice cream.
When the bill finally came (after another long wait), the mussels were still included. When I asked, the manager accused us of eating “more than half,” which was simply untrue. Many shells were empty at the bottom from the start or stuck in the shell and spit out. Instead of removing the dish, she just comped our dessert, with no apology. The way it was handled left us feeling disrespected and uncomfortable.
As someone who has worked in hospitality, I’ve never experienced being accused of lying about a dish, especially one that was genuinely bad.
This was supposed to be a special anniversary dinner at a place we were looking forward to, but instead it ruined our evening.
There’s tons of Italian places in New York, go somewhere else….I...
Read moreExtremely rude manager who discriminated us and denied table. Sunday afternoon we went to sit down for drinks and Snacks and was denied service. The manager said “table is reserved only for full service”. It was only 4pm and the restaurant was 90% empty. Even the servers didn’t understand what manager was saying and was confused. Manager saw the stroller where baby was sleeping and didn’t care that we wanted to sit on the table. She insisted we goto the bar as that where they serve drink only costumer and not her problem that we have an a baby. Our baby is 6 month and was sleeping. I mentioned that we are not looking for a happy hour and happy to pay full price, but she was very dismissive and said it’s against their policy and table is only if we are ordering full service. She was extremely rude and not professional in her delivery. As I start to leave I let her know that this is very strange because I never had this experience before. She didn’t care and seemed very annoyed and then said she can make an exception for this time (in a very rude and dismissive tone while the waiter is standing confused). We didn’t say anything and start to walk away.
We did not want to sit at a restaurant where I am receiving such level of disrespect and being discriminated because I have a stroller where my child is sleeping. To make us feel that she is giving us a favor to sit in a restaurant was uncalled for and it was extremely humiliating to experience such thing. The restaurant was 90% empty and there were other 2 other tables who were having drinks. I am in total sock! I have lived in nyc my entire life and this is the worst experience I ever had. DONOT go to this place, goto La Pecora Bianca which is very professional and don’t...
Read moreAfter traveling back and forth to New York City over the past six years, I’ve finally found a place that felt like home. Tucked away on a corner of 3rd Avenue, it offered exactly what I had been seeking after a long day—warmth, welcome, and a space to truly relax. A place that offers what so many establishments strive for, yet rarely achieve: a genuine sense of welcome paired with an unpretentious elegance
Though the restaurant was bustling, the service remained composed and attentive, striking that rare balance between professionalism and genuine hospitality. Recommendations weren’t just informed—they were intuitive. The focaccia was exceptional: golden, fragrant, and impossibly soft on the inside. Lambrusco, which I’ve always considered vastly underrated, proved to be the perfect pairing—elegant, bright, and full of character.
The mussels? Impeccable. delicately seasoned, and deeply flavorful. I could go on. The pappardelle verde pasta was an absolute must. silky, nuanced, and so tender it nearly melted on the tongue. A truly unique dish.
The baby gem was a thoughtful, elevated take on a classic—crisp and vibrant, with each bite offering freshness and complexity. The beets, perfectly balanced by creamy, soft goat cheese, brought harmony to the plate in a way that felt both comforting and refined. And the pizza was just perfect— extremely satisfying.
A reminder that excellence, when done with heart, doesn’t...
