The service is great but the food is not. Not authentic Mexican or Oaxaqueñen. Not vegan friendly at all.

Staff were very friendly. I don't consume any animal products, so when I ordered veggie enchiladas and requested mole over them instead of having cheese, they accommodated this request. They also gave me complimentary rice and beans. At the same time, they'd asked us what kind of WATER we wanted. We'd asked for bottled and they never said we'd be billed for it. When we'd got our receipt, we'd been charged $8.50 dollars for water. A scam.

The food, however, is bad. It is not authentic. Nothing about it tastes authentically Mexican and especially not Oaxaqueñen. The veggie enchilladas were $25 for THREE measley enchilladas stuffed with nothing but corn. Like put some mushrooms and onions in there or something.

This restuarant is for white clientele, and it's so evident from the moment you walk through the door. I should've known better but I really wanted Mexican food. Do NOT come here if you want...

I’ll start by saying the food is delicious, I had the steak and it was definitely a hit, my friend had the fish and said it was amazing. Prices are ok but they don’t have happy hour (yes really). My friend and i walked in at about 3pm it was NOT busy they had enough servers , we were the third to occupy a table however, our server took so long w/our drinks we thought he forgot them, they arrived after the food about 30min of us sitting while having chips n guacamole., I mentioned the drinks when the food arrived and he returned put the drinks down and rushed off. No one came by to ask if all was ok. The place is worth trying out but servers definitely need to be more attentive! We didn’t bother ordering desert we asked for the check and left a 15%tip ($20 for a $136 meal) hopefully the server realized his service was NOT so good. And btw the bathroom needed some attention also. I’d give this place another try, hopefully service will be much better next...

Excited for good and interesting Mexican food in the hood! Not your typical fare or prices. Food is thoughtfully presented. The portions are generous.

Very good complimentary chips and salsa!

We thoroughly enjoyed the pork ribs, mole enchiladas, and the shrimp flautas! The fried calamari had deep fried jalapeno peppers which we Loved!

The grilled fish dish itself was very good with arugula and charred corn and quinoa. But the sauce was very bland.

The steak quesadillas looked more like tacos. The steak was well seasoned and tender. The dish didn't meet my expectations because it looked different and had less cheese than expected, but it was good.

We made short work of the churros and tres leches cake too.

The service seems a little too eager and inexperienced but it's early days

We did have a couple of virgin margaritas which were quite and we're looking forward to them getting their...

20 out of 10!!! The Ribs Istmenas are ridiculously delicious! The chipotle guava glaze on them is just phenomenal. The Steak Oaxaqueño was thought out so well and each bite was paired with a delicious melted chihuahua cheese, sweet plantain, nopales salad and an amazing mole coloradito. To be honest there’s so many great plates my review would be 10 pages long. The ceviche, the calamari, the buñuelos, the cochinita tacos, the Pulpo every time I eat here the flavors are so good I just want to try the next thing on the menu! Chef Felipe is a master of his craft and puts a lot of thought and care into what comes out of his kitchen. They have awesome brunch options from 12-4pm as well. The service is very welcoming and attentive. The drinks… Just WOW! I think I’ve nearly tried everything and I love coming here.

I am so glad I was walking by with my sister when we did. The wonderful staff was handing out flyers for the restaurant while we were on our way to another Mexican eatery we always go to. We took a look at the menus and turned right around and went into Ruta. Everything was amazing. I have been obsessed with Chicken Mole for a few weeks now trying it almost everywhere I can. So when I say everything was good, everything was good. The salsa that comes with the chips is so rich and hearty. We got two orders of chips and salsa. We got the Mexican street corn. I got the Mole and my sister has the shrimp tacos. I got rice and beans too. Everything was so flavorful. I definitely will be back. This place is about to be packed all summer I can just feel it, I can taste it!

Made reservations for what can be the busiest day of the year - V day. Booking a spot via Google maps was a breeze. Received confirmation in 15 seconds and an email in 30 seconds. Call the restaurant the next day just to confirm that everything was on file for the reservation. Arrived 5 minutes before 8:00 p.m. and was seated right at 8:00 p.m. The restaurant was at capacity but the food and drinks were flowing seamlessly out of the kitchen to the tables. We started off with freshly made chips, salsa and guac 🥑. Can we had steak and tacos as the main course which were excellent. The drinks were just the right mix and the service was on point. There was no rush to get you out so we will be back again. Maybe for mother's day ❤️.
