Updated review: I just came here to grab the best sandwich in Astoria for my breakfast...and lunch...and probably dinner! It is a huge portion, they didn't reduce the size or changed the price, remarkable! It is still $17, despite increased costs, I truly admire to this one. Staff abd customers always super nice and attentive, you always hear and learn something new! Ladies and gentleman, let me introduce you with Sal, Kris & Charlie's Deli - the official Sandwich King of Astoria! It took me a while to come here and try their well-known sandwiches. Although this place works as a deli, where you can buy some basic groceries, they are famous after the largest sandwiches in Astoria! Everything is super fresh, they are very busy, since all Astorians recognize their quality. Food is prepared from scratches, in front of you. I had The Bomb Sandwich, their special, fully loaded with a selection of Italian cold cuts, and two cheeses. It costs ONLY $17, weight 3lb (take a look at my pictures!), almost 3 inches in lenght, easily for 2 people!!! My second recommendation would be The Italian Sandwich. It is their classic Italian sandwich that comes with salami, pepperoni, prosciutto, soppressata, mortadella, provolone, lettuce, tomato, sweet peppers, hot peppers, and oil vinegar. They prepare their food with a lot of love and with smiling faces :) Thumbs up for these hardworking people and please always tip them. Very clean, affordable place, very fast service, they know very well what they are doing. This iconic place is a must if you visit this neighborhood in Queens. And be prepared to wait in the line. CASH ONLY! NO SEATINGS ON PREMISES!

After a few days in New York, my friend and I had noticed the ubiquitousness of neighborhood deli’s. Spurred by their apparent popularity, we decided to try out Sal, Kris & Charlie’s Deli, excited by their high reviews. The deli is located in a noticeably Greek part of Astoria and has that neighborhood feeling we desired. We joined a fast moving line of people, and after asking for a recommendation from the person in front of us opted for “the bomb”, a $17 behemoth consisting of every possible layer of cured meat, different kinds of cheese and a variety of other toppings. We made the 15 minute trek down to Astoria park, and unfurled our monstrous sandwich on a park bench with a panoramic view of the city. Asking for the sandwich to be cut in four, we dug into an end piece, simultaneously in shock at its monstrous size. I didn’t initially expect to be a fan, but the sandwich was surprisingly well balanced in individual bites, fresh from the addition of lettuce and a variety of other toppings, and obviously rich from all the cured meats and cheese. A fourth of the sandwich was enough to fill me up and I can’t imagine ever ordering a whole sub for myself. Nonetheless, for the novelty of the experience, and the enjoyment garnered from the part of the sandwich I did eat - I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sal, Kris & Charlie’s for a classic deli experience.

SKC's Deli really does deserve their title of being the "Sandwich King of Astoria." Their sandwiches are amazing. Typically, delis that makes large sized sandwiches suffers from low quality ingredients, but not at SKC. Their meat and bread are always fresh due to the high foot traffic. We typically order the Italian Combo (instead of everyone's favorite, the Bomb), because we really don't enjoy the American meats that much. We also like ordering a potato salad on the side to change up the flavor to help consuming the large sandwich. The place is cash only, but a $20 bill will buy you more than enough food for at least 2 people. Parking is impossible around this place, but typically the patrons park up the curb at the no standing zone right outside the shop. The service speed is so quick that the meter maid is not quick enough to cite all the illegally parked cars during the busy hours, so they don't even bother stopping.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that these are the BEST deli sandwiches you will find in the Astoria area,I have been a loyal costumer since 2019 and not once I have been disappointed, they are always fresh, big and very tasteful. So many options on their menu or you can make your own, my absolute favorites are the bomb and tuna. During warmer months be prepared to wait online because they are always so busy but they also work very fast and all of the guys are kind and with great attitudes. These sandwiches are also perfect for the beach, picnics or events( you can also ask for their catering options) As for the prices they vary of course and I do feel they are more pricey than any other sandwiches in the area but do know that you are getting always fresh ingredients and these would leave you completely full and satisfied. Also this is a CASH only deli ( there is an ATM inside) and don’t forget to tip.
