Ate at the 39th St location a block from Bryant Park yesterday, which I originally located on Google Maps. Today, I can't find it to save me. Anyway, I've never eaten at a halal joint before. The food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful for a very reasonable price. I had the shawarma beef and lamb platter that was deliciously spiced up for me on request. Wife had a chicken platter. Vegetables were fresh and nice. Rice was super long grain and also really good. There was plenty of meat in both platers. I'd eat there again in a second. Was around $20 for both generous platters and a couple drinks. No wait, and the gentleman that put this all together for us was super nice....

Read moreI'm sad to say this but Sammy's has really fallen off. Have been visiting them since 2009 (or maybe even earlier), and at one time they were one of the best halal carts in the city. But these days the food is never fresh, regardless at the time of day I've stopped by. I have a feeling they don't cook anything in the cart and just use the griddle to heat stuff up to lukewarm. On my last visit the lettuce in the container was completely rotten. Maybe they don't get crowds any more but that's no excuse for serving old food. I don't think...
