a mainstay of the food cart scene downtown is the SoHo Halal Guy—this cart serves up a variety of sandwiches, meat + rice platter, and other eats. brightly lit tiny cart is located on Broadway and Houston St—serving food to area workers, residents, and tourists from day to late night.

the food is made with care, but doesn’t take tons of time if you’re in a rush. only ordered meat + rice platters here over the years and have always been satisfied with the ample servings. solid spot for Middle Eastern styled meat over rice to-go. ordered the chicken over rice is well-seasoned. the rice is flavorful. typically i get both the white sauce & hot sauce on top. the chicken over rice is $7 + tip

staff is quick and efficient. sometimes service is gruff. overall, if you are looking for lunch or dinner to go and that can be made quickly then this food cart will meet your...

Me and my friend decided to buy from the halal cart. You would think that a 7 box chicken and a 8 box for combo is good. He didn’t update the price until when we had to pay and he said everything is a dollar up.

Another point, me and my friend ate our food and my other friend had the rest. What did we have all in common? Throat infection and a stomach ache. It wasn’t just the hot sauce because my friend didn’t get any, so it was either the meat or the rice. The guy was chefing up our food, maybe he should do hibachi instead. Super interactive very talkative but I wouldn’t be surprised if some spit got into the food, or droplets because there wasn’t much ventilation in his cart. Only...

It's pretty much what you'd expect for a halal cart. The food comes out quick and the price is pretty good - I pay $8 for a chicken over rice and a drink. The guy who runs it is funny some days and a little weird on others.

The main thing you need to watch out for is hot sauce. Don't get me wrong, I love hot sauce, but this guy puts SO much on. I ask for "just a little" every time I go and it's still a lot. I considered not going anymore after a few visits where my food was just drenched in hot sauce, to the point that it was completely inedible. Another thing is make sure you're paying the price that's on his menu. I had a friend go here and she got charged $3 more than I pay for...
