What an enchanting experience! One is met with warm welcomes the very moment I entered the space before being gracefully wisked off to a table of my choosing. Hmmmm beautiful wooden bar or sunny cushioned window seat where fashion week in SoHo makes for interesting people- seeing? Graceful and elegant are the two most appropriate words to describe the service! They treat you like royalty! The service is 5 star, akin to dining at the Mandarin Oriental or similar high-end establishment yet felt cool and breezy. Shelly was an incredible server, thank you Shelley! Every person who brought each dish (they don't serve it all at once, making every dish a unique experience) delivered the items with a warm smile explaining what I was about to savor. One never has to wonder what they are eating! The fish is melt-in-your-mouth spectacular! Great quality 🍣 I enjoyed every single dish, utterly delicious! The attention to detail is another factor adding to my enjoyment of this place. From perfect service to the spectacular food to the restroom even. The swinging door leading to the bathroom means no touching door handles and I LOVE the beautiful and (once again) elegant sink with both a scented and non- scented soap option. PERFECT 🤩 The experience was enthralling to the point that I sat just giddy in this beautiful space being treated so well. I thought wow, only in America can a person like myself (not wealthy or of a high class) be treated in such a wondrous way… I was filled with a sense of gratitude to be here, in New York and in America where the lines of class can be blurred. It was an incredible feeling of love and hope ❤️ I expected the price to be at least twice what it was, considering the quality of both the food and the service but also the aesthetic and ambiance of the space. I could not believe my five course meal, which left me stuffed, was under $50 and even more incredible, they are gratuity-free! What a unique concept. Im curious about how this fantastic team is compensated, considering they do not accept tips. Im also curious on a sociological level- if people in service (such as myself) don’t work for tips, how does that affect their performance and outlook?!? Thank you for a perfect time and also for opening my mind to these other possibilities… Ps. I hope yall are getting at least $30 an hour ❤️ You deserve so so...

What an awesome experience! Probably the best sushi we've ever had. Three of us shared an incredible meal in the middle of the afternoon, having walked in looking for a snack and a drink after shopping. Mid-week, and the restaurant was fairly full but not crowded at 3:30 PM. The food and the service were about as perfect as you can get. SERIOUSLY fresh sushi and sashimi, perfectly seasoned and delivered quickly with the rice still warm and the fish still cool. The decor is simple and subdued in the Japanese style. The staff are well-trained, quiet, unassuming, but helpful and quick in their delivery. We noticed that they named each item as it was served, which was of course helpful without making any assumptions about our knowledge level.

Two things to note about this restaurant. They are first and foremost a tip-less establishment, which we missed if it is noted on the menu. We ended up tipping in cash because the check was delivered as "no signature needed", showing no place to add a tip. That may have been code for "tip-less", but because I'm not familiar with it, I still didn't get it. Here's to learning something new! We left the tip even after asking the manager about it on the way out. He very nicely explained everything. So, tips are definitely not expected, and we assume they pooled what we left.

Second, you'll definitely want to try one of the three "Trust Me" experience meals. In the $35-45 range, you'll have plenty to eat. We shared one between the three of us, then ordered an additional hand roll each, and that was perfect. All of that plus four beers and a soda left us with a bill of around $115, which seemed reasonable to us given the amount of food.

A rare 5 stars from me, and a definitive recommendation. We'll certainly be back for more. A sincere expression of gratitude to the staff for such a great...

Absolutely love this place and have been back several times! My favorite thing that sets it apart from other sushi restaurants is that they only take reservations day of so you can always get a reservation. You will have to wait an hour or more but it so perfect to put your name in and go get drinks before dinner. Hosts are all lovely and very good at communicating via text when your table is ready. Even if you have strayed a bit further away and miss the 20 min slot. They seat the next table and still keep your reservation to be seated next. I personally love eating late night and have had many relaxing nights feasting here around 11 after getting warmed up with some drinks.

The food is incredible, have honestly never been disappointed. While you don’t have the classic experience of a Japanese chef preparing the fish in front of you. That will cost you several hundred more than here. With the “trust me” menus you get an omakase style experience without breaking the bank and with the limited availability menu, they have items for those looking to get a little more extravagant! Some must try’s are sweet shrimp (my absolute favorite), bay scallops (I always thought these were cheaper and not as good as regular scallops, but the way they prepare them here is incredible), salmon kombu, sea bream, of course the uni and ikura. The only think I don’t like is the toro sashimi. The name makes it seem like it’s a piece of fish but it is chopped with cucumber and I do not think it compliments the fatty tuna but rather leaves a watery taste. Other than that, everything is superb!

It being a no tipping restaurant is also great as the whole team helps you as a group. Also helps the wallet, allowing you to order more freely without having to calculate an...

Based on crazy good reviews, we decided to try this place. My companion owns 2 sushi restaurant in Tokyo, and I grew up in the 5 generations of sushi restauranteurs. First off, they don't take reservation. The wait was an hour. The ticketing was smooth but the wait was exclusiating. The restaurant has very bad acoustic and noise of semi drunk groups was a torture. The menu was interesting with reasonable prices. About the sushi, the positive was the warm rice, and a few pieces of topping was nice and fresh (including properly thawed sweet shrimp that retained the just caught texture). Seaweed was nice and crisp. But sushi rice was too salty, too sweet and overwhelmed the taste of topping. Crab roll had odd sweetness (not from the rice) and was a bit strange. Sliced fish was on and off - some had too fishy hint, which bothered us. Other slices were mislabeled - could it be the translation by the restaurant or they were mislabeled at the market? And the dry house sake that came in a cute little bottle was.... stale? There was some funky taste to it. Over all, we were not sure why this place has such a great review. I can only guess that maybe the customers really don't know what quality sushi is. Another small thing - the way fish was sliced and rice was formed were both unattractive and let's say just simply wrong. Needless to say I never want to go there, again.

This is a very middling place, and the 5* reviews surprise me a lot because nothing here really blew me away apart from the lack of a tipping culture. The chefs paid inconsistent attention to detail - the seaweed in the handroll was roasted to a crisp but the rice was flakey, with rice grains falling off easily. Fish and crab did not taste the freshest but it wasn't unfresh. Waitstaff were not the most audible when explaining the dishes either, and even after repeating themselves we could not really hear them so half the time we had to make a guess about what we were eating. Also, our ginger plates went empty for about 15 minutes before being filled, only upon our asking. Would not be back but I did not dislike this place either. I'm slightly disappointed only because I had high expectations for this place, but if I were to suspend my expectations, it's very mediocre. As a friend commented, "It's like office food - not amazing but it does the job and feeds me." Think I'd pay the $30-40 extra to head to a proper omakase spot with a counter chef, better service and the freshest sashimi.
