What happened to Customer Service at Brooklyn's SURF BAR? Exploring the restaurant/bar scene in Williamsburg because we are new to the area, we went to Surf Bar twice and most likely never again.

The food and drinks were not great but we really enjoyed the outdoor garden.

However, on our first visit, we went to sit down and found out the chairs were WET from the oil-based paint varnish. We brought this issue to our server trying not to make a big deal about it. They took the chairs away and the server came back and said she was "sorry" ....That was all we got from Surf Bar’s staff, even though the wet, oil-based varnish could not be removed from our shorts and we have had to throw them away!

Today we came back with a guest to give this place another try—A BIG MISTAKE.

We ordered pre-dinner drinks. After a few sips of my Frozen Mojito, my friends noticed some BLUE things floating inside the drink. Turned out they were shredded RUBBER BANDS!!! We told our server, and they did, at least, make me a new drink.

But after a few rounds of drinks and dinner, and after we had paid for the check, we wanted to talk to the manager about our experiences. Again we didn’t want to make a big deal, just wanted the management to know so they could avoid future mishaps. The manager was siting at the table across from us the whole time we were there. He was “drinking” and working on some paper work. He told the server that he was “BUSY” and we'd have to wait 15 minutes or so in order to talk to him. We felt uncomfortable and decided to leave since he obviously had no interest in his customers!

Both times we were there, we got no accommodating gestures from the staff. Only losing 2 pairs of shorts, shredded rubber bands in the drink and the worst part of it is that the manager didn’t want to be bothered!!!

What happened to customer service at Surf Bar? Some people would make a big deal out of this; or even press lawsuits. I want to know what qualified him for this job? I am sure there are thousands of people in Williamsburg who would make a better manager...

after waiting 20 minutes for our drinks we asked for the check when they finally arrived. After receiving the check we placed our card in the check book and the waitress took the check book away to ring it up. After another 20 minutes or so we asked for our card back.... when we asked the waitress seemed confused. Then she comes back and tells us our card is missing. We ask to speak to the manager and without any apology the manager comes up and says "i heard you lost a card?" ummmm no?! your waitress lost our card. blah blah after many words and time they finally found our card and were ready to charge us for our 2 drinks... i then said "i don't think we should be charged for our drinks considering the circumstances" and the Manager said rudely "ok!". This place is not only unorganized but unprofessional and ridiculous. I would NEVER recommend going there. i hope whoever owns this place fires who ever is working because obviously they don't know what they are doing. Coming from a family who owns catering halls and a previous waitress/restaurant manager this place is extremely...

So I just got home after being with my family at Surfbar. I recommended the place to my friends and family, who are from Australia. Tonight, I orordered a burrito with steak and shrimp for additional $10.00 excharge (no problem). I told the waitress my friend and I were both allergic to avacado. When I received my burrito, intrinsically, I began to cut the burrito in the center and I noticed avocado--real safety hazard. She took back the burrito immediately, and by then, my family I eaten all their food while I waited. I received another burrito, I decided to check the meal again, now was no shrimp inside. I ask them to replace it and make the next burrito to go. Kindly, they brought a plastic bag with a container. They gave it to my boyfriend, who did not check the bag or the container. The kitchen had given me the exact same burrito (with no shrimp and all disfigured). This was absolutely humiliating and entirely disrespectful. I really like this place but it really hurt to see how I was...

Me and my Ex would frequent the surf bar since 2016. I hadn't been in a while. On a recent date. I had my Favorite; a frozen mojito #frozenmojito. I can't eat seafood anymore. The last time I was here I could. I had a burger, yeah, a burger at a seafood specialty place. Lol. I love the decor. Sand on the floor, surfboards adorn the ceiling, cabana feel. That 2 mojito,,, oooh weee. I and my date weren't happy with the waitress. She seemed not to be as understanding as I wanted her to be. Kind've a; this is what we have, take it or leave it type vibe. She was a cutie too, smh. Surf is still a Dope venue. I won't hold it against them. But, if you're gonna access a covid tip; make sure the staff is on point always. Y'all need a second bathroom !!!!!

Dive bar meets tiki bar. I enjoyed everything we ate. Only complaint is i didnt feel that the mussels were worth while, huge shells tiny mussels. We also tried the crab cake, coconut shrimp, steak with sweet potato fries, and salmon. Not bad for Bar food and prices more or less matched the quailty. Cool low key place with sand all throughout the floor of the bar. Must be nice to hang in the back area during the summer. Inside is more dive bar and if you sit in the back during winter you may end up keeping your jacket on.. it gets a bit cold. Outside has a tiki style bar vibe to it. Bathroom reminds feels like you walked into an old rock venue. All in all we had fun and enjoyed ourselves just dont go expecting it to be more upscale then it is.

Went there for independence day celebration with roommates and friends, we ordered a lot of food each ( some got a little lost on the way but we didn’t have to wait very long to have it) food was really good, I had oysters and mussels and fries, my friends got the mahi mahi burger, the steak frites ( I tried the steak it was phenomenal) the coconut shrimps looked very good as well. We got drinks too, pretty good selection of tiki and regular cocktails. I like that the floor is covered in sand, the music was good. Our server was nice to us knowing how crazy 4th of July can get. Would definitely bring a date back there! Also very good location, close to trains.
