Take out sushi and non-existing service at premium prices. My guess is that they get their sushi from the market across the floor and the rice from the next stall, great business model but not much value for their guest.
We initially wanted to grab a quick meal at the food court but noticed this rustic stall against wall serving Omaske. We sat ourselves and the waiter just look our way from a distance. We didn’t think much of it, a few mins went by, he came by took our orders. 15 mins of awkward looks between us and the chef, he asked if we were eating.. no or communication there.
The sushi was above avg but not worth $75/ $7.50 per piece. The chef mumble a word or 2 but didn’t explain anything. A few pieces into the meal, we realized it was close to the quality and experience we have had before. We were the only ones there but then another couple sat down and from their the look on their faces seem extremely disappointed. Despite telling the waiter their food, they too had to tell the chef after 15 mins of awkwardness. But their experience was worse than ours as they chef gave them the wrong order. They were polite and took it in stride, much credit. While all this is happening, we went 30 mins without any food or service. I asked if we were done, they said 1 more piece. The last took less than 1 minute to make. We were glad to...
Read moreI’ve been to New York several times and never had sushi there so I decided to try out this omakase that had fairly good reviews (4 stars).
This was by far the worst food experience I’ve ever had anywhere that I have traveled to.
The place was filthy! A pile of fish parts (guts and everything) laying on the counter right in front of our plates and they stayed there the whole time, not on ice or anything. This was the same pile of fish the “sushi chef” kept grabbing from.
The restaurant opens at 5pm, we arrived around 5:30 and the “sushi chef” as just starting to dissect and clean the fish. He did this as he went and took forever to slice up the fish to serve to us. Not to mention him serving us the most sloppy sushi, rice falling apart and fish eggs plopping down all over the place.
In my opinion, this old man should not be making food for anyone. He was shaking while serving everyone food, soup spilling all over his hands and down into our plates.
I could say more but I think this is enough. Bottom line, don’t go here. It’s unsanitary, and I had a stomachache after we left. 0 stars if I could give it but I’ll give 1 sympathy star because I felt bad for that old...
Read moreI went there for dinner with a friend after seeing all the positive reviews. We both got omakase and it was the worst one I've ever had. I can tell the chef did not want to be there or that's just his baseline? He did not explain what each piece was as he serves it. He just plops it down in front of us and leaves. There were only 2 of us there so it's not like he has to rush to make the next course. The way he would rummage through the fish in front of us looks like he was looking through garbage. Not to mention, the way he would try to discreetly eat some of the fish between making the sushi just seems so unsanitary. The rice was saturated with vinegar and soggy. It kept falling apart with each piece of sushi no matter what. The 2 stars is for the friendly waitress who recommended a good beer to us. She said it's the chef's special. When we asked the chef something about the beer, he just shrugged at us. I would definitely not be back or...
