This Hidden NYC Street-Side Dumpling Joint Only Costs $20 Per Person

To start off, the food is delicious and there’s no doubt about it. We waited over an hour in the rain to be seated which was not a huge problem, we’re more than happy to wait for delicious food! The thing is, there were empty tables open for more then 15 minutes. The staff was so busy that once people left, they were more focused on people coming up to them to put their name down or things that were right in front of them like grabbing to go orders. We were totally disregarded and there really was no organization. They could have seated tables much quicker if they took care of things in order and not by whatever was closest to them. We waited in a large group of people and once we got seated, 2 other tables nearby us also got seated at the same time. Since they were closer to the host, they got their orders taken first and again we were disregarded since we were further away and not in front of the staff. There were people who joined the queue 30 minutes after us, got seated at the same time since they are seating multiple tables at the same time and since they were closer to the host, they got attention quicker. It was frustrating because we waited 1.5 hours for our first order to be delivered while people who just joined got their meals before us. For the food, I’ll place the Miso ramen in my top 3 for NYC. The spicy wings were also delicious but not too spicy, the flavor was there though. Overall the whole meal was great and filling - especially for the price point. It’s hard to get past the waiting experience though and we’re hoping they just had a bad day.

Susuru Ramen is a Gem in Astoria; Food Quality, Atmosphere, and Service. Since I've moved to Astoria 10 months ago, we've passed Susuru Ramen quite sometimes, but never had a chance to stop by. However, tonight was our visit and I must say, What the F***k I've been doing? First, Food quality; we ordered Shishito, Chicken Karaage, Katsu Bun, and Deluxe Ramen. It's F***king great! Chicken Karrage was ok, Shishito was ok (but with Seasoned powder, it's great!) Katsu Bun was great; Great enough then my partner won't share with me! However, the highlight was Deluxe Ramen. Its broth was very tasty, not too creamy nor too light. Noodle amount, Chashu, Ajitama egg, Bamboo. It's large enough to fill up a big guy easily. 10/10! Moreover, The show wasn't over yet. their beers were killer too. We ordered Saison Ale, and I must be dreaming (Yeah, that's a name!) Unfortunately, its made in the US, not imported from Japan but they were awesome. Second, the atmosphere was very homie, bright, not for a romantic date, but it's more like a family business. Music wasn't too loud but kinda white noise which enhanced a small conversation very well. Last, Service!!!!! This was very very important, Server was very kind, big smile and gentle.

Great place to eat alone or with friends! I usually take photos but this time I just wanted to enjoy quality time out with my significant other and friends. We arrived around 3 PM on a Saturday, gave the waitress our phone number, and walked around the block as we waited for a table to finish up. We ordered: -Beer: Brains on Science (KCBC & Equilibrium Brewery), The Four Sights (The Test Brewery), and Kyoto Matcha IPA (Kizakura). -Ramen: Susuru Paitan, Kuro, Gyokai, and Deluxe + Kaedama -Snack: Garlic Edamame The beers paired well with ramen but the Matcha IPA didn’t really taste of matcha to either of us who tried it. We were going to order an additional Brains on Science instead of the Matcha IPA but snagged the last one already. It was definitely our favorite of the three and I would go out of my way to pick up a pack from KCBC for someone special. My partner and I felt as though Susuru Ramen worked on the quality of their dishes since coming here for the first time one year ago. The broth was perfectly seasoned, silky, not heavy. The ramen was cooked well enough so that the noodles retained a nice chew and pulled a good amount of soup from the bowl with each mouthful. Everyone was a big fan of how tender and flavorful the chashu slices were. I liked that the slices themselves were not too thin nor thick. Also, the Garlic Edamame was so tasty! Would order again or try to make at home. My side quest while at the restaurant was to ask whether or not we could purchase at least two “the beer girl glass” cups and with great luck we somehow made out with four individually wrapped and packaged for us by the end of our meal ☺️🙏🏻 The waitress is very quick and works hard managing the front of house area by themselves. It was amazing to see them balance everything from seating to...
