I used to voice it regularly to family, friends and colleagues, even when I didn't have a fully developed concept yet. It was a way of pushing myself to get there and embracing the possibility of failure. . It was scary, it was exciting, and it took my entire life savings, but there was no turning back. Colina Cuervo was born out of that dream and the endless support of my family and friends. . Read moreSo I met a friend here for breakfast the other day. I walked in and waited in line (there were 4 people in front of me). I wasn't sure how the system works as when you walk in they have a counter and then in another room they have tables in chairs but no sign of how what where to order.
So wasting about 7 minutes, I waited until I was front in line and of course the employee asks, will you be dining with us? Yes. Ok take a seat we'll bring the menus to you. See?! All that could have been avoided if there was a small sign telling dining in customers to take a seat and someone will serve them.
Anyways, we sit down and a waitress brings over menus but runs away so fast before we were able to at least order coffees. She comes back a few minutes later, we already knew what we wanted and order lattes, plato ecuatoriano and ensalata de la casa.
My friend ordered the salad which was pretty good but my skirt steak and eggs were something I've never had before. The steak was well done, chewy, had some sort of liquid sitting on it and pretty much wasn't what I'd imagined a steak and eggs to look like (yes I've had plenty of steak and eggs).
Overall our experience was pretty meh. I probably won't return to this establishment as there was...
Read moreThis place is great! they have about 10 tables and it gets crowded by about 10.30. Tables are for sharing and they have a fun and cute space. I loved the new take on some traditional breakfast dishes.
I got the horchata latte, which is definitely on the sweet side, so ask for some extra coffee to go with it and smooth out the sweet. I also got the pork hash and I highly recommend this, its got a great combination of textures- crispy pork, round hominy, pickled jalapenos and pickled onions. Comes with a poached egg on top and makes for a fantastic breakfast. I asked for a side of a dulce de leche butter and I recommend that everyone gets this cos its simply fabulous. Get a pancake or something to put it on as well.
My friends tried the granola and yogurt- which was really thick and very much a meal since I think they hung out some greek yogurt, and also the sandwich with avocado scrambled egg and chorizo- this is really spicy and I can handle my spice, so watch it if this is your order. That being said, it was super delicious.
Great little space, good waitstaff and clean bathrooms. Its close to me too, so ill be walking over soon for another...
