The Tuck Room is a beautiful restaurant located within the iPic theater. I believe you can access the restaurant from outside as well without having to actually be at the theater.
The restaurant is beyond beautiful. All of the small details from the piano to the book shelves make this feel like a cozy fancy restaurant. They do have two sections where you can potentially host dinner parties. One space is large and seems to fit 25 to 30 people. The second space is smaller and seems to maybe accommodate 10 people.
I have entered this restaurant multiple times as the iPic theater doesnt have a bathroom on its floor so you have to go through the restaurant to use theirs. I never noticed how big this space is but they actually have more seating beyond the bar section. I had never noticed it before.
Upon entering we were greeted by a food runner, i believe. He was extremely friendly and accommodating. He greeted us as soon as we stepped off the escalators and directed us to a table. Our waitress was also extremely helpful and nice as well.
We ended up ordering the Crispy Tuna and Bone Marrow for appetizer. We also got the special which was Peruvian Steak Kabobs and the Boss Burger. The crispy tuna lacked, not in flavor but texture. The rice was not crispy at all. I could tell immediately when the plate was dropped on the table. The rice was too light so i knew they didnt take the time to truly crisp it up. The bone marrow was good, certainly something different to try. I liked having to scoop out the center and adding it to the toast myself. I think the onion jam put on top could of been more savory, It was sweet. The boss burger was amazing. Its a double pattie so be ready to be full. They do offer truffle fries, regular fries and sweet potato fries. We opted for sweet potato. They were amazing. The Peruvian kabobs were so good. I wish they were bigger as the photo gives the impression that its a bigger dish. The steak was cooked well and was tender, great flavor too. The sauces on the plate were amazing. I couldnt get enough of them. The potatoes were really good but looked nothing like the photo. I believe they were supposed to be deep fried and crispy, it wasnt. They were soft layers that broke off as soon as you tried to pick it up. Either way, it was still delicious. The food was good and had great flavor. A few execution issues but nothing that wouldnt make me come back and try more food.
For drinks we had The Orchard and the Refresher. Both drinks were mocktails and were absolutely delicious. I love the fact that they had mocktails, not everyone is a drinker so having these options is amazing.
The service was fairly quick. The restaurant wasnt packed yet but it was certainly lively and had multiple tables occupied.
Overall this place is great. I definitely recommend it for an after work dinner and drinks vibe. I cannot wait to come back and try...
Read moreI was so excited to try this place based on the reviews. The food was ok, but I left still hungry and we spent over $100. I had the chicken schnitzel which is basically a chicken cutlet which came with a small spinach salad that did have a nice taste and some kind of pickled cole slaw type thing that came in a condiment dish but did also taste good. I ordered brussel sprouts on the side because I just love those little buggers. The menu described them as cooked with salt, pepper and lemon but all I could taste was horseradish. When I addressed it with the waiter, he said they don't put horseradish on them... but there definitley was so either I'm crazy or I'm a liar. My husband and youngest also tasted the strong horseradish so that reassured me I'm neither crazy or a liar. The waiter said he would try and get me some prepared the way the menu described but he never did and never brought it back up. My youngest had the special of the day which was salmon. She really enjoyed it. Her plate came with the unusual brussel sprouts and potatoes. Oddly enough, her brussles also had a strong horseradish taste. My husband had the ribs which came with a mango habenaro sauce which he thought was a little too sweet with no taste of habenaro, but still good. His order also came with cornbread that was infused with honey and topped with goat cheese. Personally I didn't taste the cornbread taste at all, but he seemed to enjoy it and that is what matters. We all had iced tea which they make special at $6 a glass. It was ok...tasted like peach flavored unsweetened iced tea. They bring a vanilla bean liquid sweetener if you like sweeter flavored tea. I was dying to try the toffee ice cream cookie with caramel but we were informed they ran out of ice cream. By this point I was done and just wanted to leave and get some real food! What really turned me off about this place was the table behind us ordered alcoholic beverages and after not being out in 5 minutes and without the table complaining, our waiter came by and told them they're drinks were on the way and he was going to give them one of their drinks free because they had to wait. I'm not sure what to think about that, but I felt offended. I felt he could have at least had the brussel sprouts removed from our check or given us a small percentage off...something! But no! I wouldn't recommend this place, not because of the food... But because the portions are way too small and the prices are way too high. Service started out strong and ended weak. I really can't comment on the cleanliness, because the lighting was very dim. The menu is small and not many choices. Overall, it was a bad experience for me... So...
Read moreWe selected this location for a bday lunch after the original restaurant did not offer a more comprehensive menu. Everything started off well until the mom of the bday girl asked if there was a cake cutting fee. We were told yes (which was fine) but that it was also a “law” that the restaurant kitchen must cut the cake as well. We questioned the validity of this and our waiter (Amro per receipt) was adamant it was a law. He tried to take the cake for the kitchen to cut before we even received our food, which took almost an hour to arrive. The majority at the table received cold food. The bday girl couldnt even eat her food at all. When it was finally time for the cake, what was returned to the table was a butchered mess. They cut jaggedly all through the cake and completely messed it up. Then he provided us a knife to cut the cake in smaller pieces, but I thought we weren’t allowed to cut ourselves😳 We called for the manager (Cash). Cash said he had never heard of such a law and offered to provide a free drink to all the adults. Half were not staying for the movie so he said he would bring drinks to the table for those leaving and for us going downstairs for the movie he’d send our drinks. We later found that Cash went back on his word for the free drinks for us in the movie. A second waiter assisted us at the table before we went to the movie by also confirming he didnt understand why the other waiter did what he did and had the cake butchered. He asked us for our drink orders and then walked us to our seats, where he said he’d have the drinks delivered. 30 minutes into the movie we heard back that Cash said we took too long to take the offer so it was rescinded. Just wow. On top of that, there were check issues with the original waiter who kept making his own guesses on how the checks should be split without any input from the group. Disappointing experience. And disappointing...
