This is the very first time that I am writing a review for a restaurant/bar, so you all know probably how angry and frustrated I am.
I am ok with bad drinks but great service, because you know at least they tried to make up to you. But this place: BAD DRINKS, BAD SERVICE, IGNORANT AND EGOTISTICAL BARTENDER!!!!
The bar was on my want to go list for almost a year based on all the great reviews I saw online, and decided to finally check it out with my friend (male, yes this is important) the other night. We walked in with no reservations and waited half an hour to be seated. After being seated for not up to 5 minutes, one of the bartenders came over and told us we had to "Get Out" because there was a reservation. It turned out that the couple to the right side of us was leaving so the reservation was seated there. And guess what, no apologizes!!!! The same bartender then turned to the two females that was sitting down to the left side of us and started chatting them up and had their drinks served while no one came to take our orders.
When I got my first drink, it honestly tasted terrible. I told the bartender that I wanted something sweet and NO whiskey at all in replacement since he offered. This guys goes and makes a whiskey based cocktail and when I told him I did not like it, he YELLS at me and asked me what I want. I once again repeated myself and he goes ahead and makes me a spicy drink. I do not understand why he can't make a drink to my request.
My friend and I asked for the bill and waited 10 minutes and no one came to us, there were other guests paying and leaving. (I think it was because we were the only Asians at the bar that night? Is that why they were rude to us?) DEFINITELY NOT COMING BACK, ALSO WROTE REVIEWS ON OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS AND RECIEVED SIMILAR FEEDBACKS ON VERY TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!! IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD NIGHT, JUST DONT COME...
Read moreI went with a few friends to grab drinks and it was an interesting experience. Going in with no context of the establishment, we were a bit overwhelmed by the massive artisenal drink menu.
Our server was really attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly which was great because most of us needed some guidance on what to order or what version of our go-to drink was reflected on the creative menu. One of us didn't like the drink they ordered so they were able to send it back and just order nuts, but they found that the nuts were mainly peanuts and not the assortment that was advertised on the menu. They wouldve gotten popcorn had they known that lol.
The weirdest part was that they had someone letting people in at the front door that basically had to sit/lean uncomfortably in the very small foyer and wait for people to buzz the gate. They oughta give him a chair or something, it just felt strange seeing someone confined to such a small space for hours.
I did appreciate being in a bar without anyone approaching or trying to intrude our conversation. One of my friends noted that they even have a statement on their menu that says approaching people is basically discouraged, which is great & understandable for the vibe they're curating. Overall, if you're looking for a place with high-priced cocktails and a speakeasy-style that's relatively quiet - this...
Read moreI highly ditest this place as the service is snooty and will discriminate against you based on appearance. Upon entering Up and Up I asked the host about a cover and he made a back handed comment about how there was not a cover, but I’d have to be able to afford a drink. Granted, I look very young and it’s not the first time people assumed I wouldn’t be tipping. However, it was unwarranted to make the assumption. Regardless of service, I always tip 25 percent. I worked in the restaurant business for years. The host went on to toss our menus down on the table without a word. Then when we had not made our mind up about our drink order he berated us several times. When our waitress approached, I asked if he was always so rude. She said, “He was hoping to sit six people at this table not two.” UHM OK. Then don’t sit us here? Like that’s the whole point of your job is to choose where to sit us? I knew that passive aggressively meant “you look poor and we were hoping for more people to make money.” Long story short I channeled my inner Vivian Ward, “You work on commission, right? You’ve made a huge mistake.” As I tipped 100 percent out of spite. (Yea, I showed them...wait..). To say the least- I will not be returning and do...
