It took a while for this location to finally open, so I was excited that it did. I was very disappointed with the service I received. It was around 5pm today, but not a lot of pastries were left except the croissants, some twist donuts, and fruit cream danishes. There were no signs of restocking even though the location is said to close at 9pm, there is plenty of time, and more sales to be made for a Saturday. The first complaint here is the worker's attitude that I witnessed of an older lady who requested a cup of hot water along with her fruit cream danish and hot coffee order. She simply asked for a cup of hot water which the worker in plain clothes (white t-shirt and jeans) provided in a plastic cup, the older lady said that it is bad to have the hot water in the plastic cup as it would burn her hand if spilled and said that she would pay for an actual cup and for the worker to fill it with the hot water instead. The worker did but handed the cup of hot water back to the older lady with a very annoyed sounding response in her voice and with a pissed attitude. Regardless of how silly of a request was made, the worker should not have shown her attitude in that way towards a paying customer. The 2nd complaint is the manager knowing there is a line forming for people to pay almost hesitating the open up another cashier line eventually taking my order for payment, and merely wrapping up my order without knowing what I ordered, and only after that having to look at what he wrapped up to key in my order, I also ordered a Chocolate Cloud cake. I asked for a bag for my two pastries and the cake and he gave some sort of a sigh like why didn't I ask for a bag before I paid for my order, assuming they charge for the bag too. When he handed my bag of pastries and cake, it felt like he just shoved it over to me and not even giving me my receipt. I had to pick up my own receipt, which he had just placed on the table among the other things on the counter. The last thing is when I get home to eat my cake, I open to find a Mocha Cloud cake and not the Chocolate Cloud cake that I asked and paid for...😑. I think overall the staff and even the manager will need better customer service training and people management training. We are paying customers and not someone you just treat...
Read moreRecently, there wasn’t much to do in the area, and we were all eagerly waiting for the renovations to finish at this location. Finally, it opened as a bakery, and the beautiful facade really caught our attention. The fresh decor and modern design create a lovely atmosphere, complete with cozy sofas for seating.
The bakery has a nice selection of pastries and cakes. We tried slices of mocca (coffee-flavored) and blueberry cakes. The blueberry cake was a classic sponge with cream and berries, and it was well-executed — just sweet enough without being overwhelming.
There was a small line at the register that moved quickly, but we encountered a hiccup. The staff member didn’t understand my order for oolong tea, and after some confusion with his colleague, we finally sorted it out - he didn’t know the word. Unfortunately, he input the entire order incorrectly, leading to a re-do.
During this time, the staff member sneezed repeatedly, which was a bit concerning. When it came time to serve our tea, I noticed a lack of hygiene as he handled everything without gloves, touching his running nose, then the tea bag and the lid where we would drink from — definitely not pleasant.
It was also hard to find a clean table. The floors, tables, and chairs were all a bit messy. While I understand that cleanliness can vary by culture, it would be wise for the bakery to hire more staff to maintain its new appearance. I ended up having to clean off a table myself to sit down comfortably.
Overall, while the bakery has great potential with its ambiance and treats, attention to cleanliness and customer service needs improvement. I hope to see these changes on...

I’ve always loved the chocolate pretzels from Tous les Jours — they’re the perfect balance of sweet and savory, unlike other places that make them overly sugary. I was excited to make the hour-long trip to pick up a couple of pretzels and a slice of their strawberry cake, and my total came to $16.00. After paying, I added some spare change to the tip jar, as I appreciate good service.
However, I was surprised when, after asking for a bag with a handle (since I was taking the train), the cashier told me it would cost an additional 5 cents. I didn’t have any more cash since I had already tipped, so I mentioned I could only pay by card. The cashier then said it was fine to use a credit card for the 5-cent charge.
While I understand that businesses need to manage their costs, charging a customer 5 cents for a bag — made of the same material as the standard ones — feels a bit excessive and petty, especially after spending $16.00. I know businesses are trying to be mindful of resources, but this small charge left a bad taste and wasn’t a good customer experience.
I really like Tous les Jours and their products, but I hope they reconsider this practice. A bit more flexibility and attentiveness to the customer experience could...
