Stopped in wanting a sweet crepe as a dessert in a way. I had high hopes based on the reviews but was skeptical based on the pictures. Despite some reservations, I decided to give it a try. I ordered a sweet crepe with cream cheese and strawberries.
Here's the thing - at over $10 for this combination sweet crepe, I was expecting a bit more than just a crepe with a bit of cream cheese blobs and some sliced strawberries, but sadly, this was exactly what I got. It was literally just cream cheese squeezed in various lines across the crepe before it was folded in a french style tri-fold fashion.
I get it, this is French style crepe and that's fine. But for over $10 I was expecting a whole lot more. The crepe itself is nothing special and pretty flavorless. It wasn't buttery. It wasn't sweet. It was just ... blah.
If you are coming here thinking you're going to get something similar to a Japanese style crepe with ice cream, etc. You are sadly mistaken. Go to T-Swirl as that's probably the closest thing you'll get to a japanese style crepe in NYC.
If you're coming here thinking you'll get a good, sweet, french style crepe with quality toppings and delicious buttery sweet crepe. You will still be sadly mistaken.
I'm not sure why there are such good reviews. It's just not a good crepe for over $10. If it only cost $5 - I might be ok with it. But for the price, Viva La Crepe is a HUGE...

If you want an okay crepe - it might be there. I tried this place a couple times and, while they advertise a gluten free crepe, they cook it on the same griddle as the flour crepe. So I won’t return. Aside from that - their cheese, veggies, and non-sweet ingredients have an off odor. I love watching them cook - our in the open - but this is what tuned me into the potentially spoiled or near to spoiled food issue.
Probably great if you have a fast food stomach and no allergies. I imagine that the individual in a hurry would be frustrated by the long wait - and yet that is the quality...
Read moreYum! I love Vive la Crepe. It is dangerously close to where I stay when I'm in NYC. All the options they have are fantastic and delicious. They are also super fast. I'm usually a strawberry Nutella girl, but I've been trying to branch out and everything I've tried has been awesome. I definitely reccomend the baked apples, especially with Nutella.
My only complaints: 1) sometimes when I've gotten strawberries they seem to be a little past their use-by date. Too mushy and tasted off.🍓 2) its expensive! Over $10 for each crepe. Obviously, UWS and NYC ain't cheap but it's definitely got to be more of a splurge than a regular because I can't afford that all...
