So this Woodside Cafe -- I Queens, is simply AMAZING!! Our server "Kristina" made spot on recommendations for our meal. I had a bowl of French Onion soup that may very well rival among the best Onion Soup recipes I've ever ever had. The broth was slightly sweetened with Irish Ale, beautifully caramelized onions, croutons with Irish cheese. It's a definite 10-out-of-10 rated bowl for sure.
Then I had a Grilled Blackened Chicken Sandwich. It was prepared with tomato, guacamole and mozzarella on homemade oven bread. It had just the right amount of heat and spice not to overwhelm the tastebuds. Absolutely delicious!!
We also had a delicious brick oven baked Hawaiian pizza with bacon ham and pineapple (don’t hate -- we LOVE pineapple on our pizza!!). Sweet, savory and a mouth-waterfall delight.
We had to try dessert. Kristina did it again. She recommended her favorite -- warm apple cobbler with a delightful crumble topped with vanilla ice cream and served in a cast iron pan. Ohhhh la la (enough said). Then we also had her second favorite -- carrot cake with with cream cheese and whipped cream and raspberry sauce with a bonus scoop of vanilla ice cream. Now don't let the muffin appearance fool you. It's definitely a wonderful carrot cake with a bread pudding-like consistency. Super delicious!!
The service was quite exceptional. Kristin made our dining experience a truly enjoyable time. Oh let me not forget to mention that the background music was great -- especially played at a volume that you could enjoy and still dine without screaming across the table.
I HIGHLY recommend the Woodside Cafe (located at 60-06 Woodside Avenue in Queens. The website is woodside-cafe business site.
We hope you will enjoy Woodside...
Read moreFood is decent. The selection is really waht makes it standout. You can do Irish good, pizza or standard pub fare. My full Irish breakfast wasn't bad. I doubt my blood puddings ( black and white) are homemade but it is what it is. The bacon, for sure back bacon, the kind that are thick rectangle slabs. My lady got bangers and mash, needed to be cooked longer- bangers. I felt the same about mine. Her onio. Gravy is was lovely, just know that onion gravy is TRULY onion filled. Service was fine. Didn't get a water change and had to stop my waiter twice to get attention BUT wasn't rude at all. Was attentive was there. The other service individual, was a younger lady who was cleaning up well after patrons whom left. Seemed sweet enough to the older ladies that supported thr business. I was blown away by anything but for sure will come back and try more. The look of place has cool historical reprints. Many Irish immigrants that have come to America are depicted....
Read moreWhen I was served an omelette that I didn't order, I asked to speak to the manager but the waiter brought me the bill instead. So I walked to the Manager, Zoran, to explain this is not what I ordered. He assumed I didn't want to pay anything and arrogantly told me, "You don't have to pay and if the food is not up to your expectations, not to come here and don't come here anymore." That's how he decided to handle this situation after speaking to me while I've been eating in there once or twice a week for years. (By the way, don't 'expect' to get those "caramelized onions" that's described on their menu.) Afterwards, I realized how much money I was spending eating in Woodside Cafe and so glad that the Manager told me not to eat there anymore. Now I go to eat in Jackson Hole, which has much better EVERYTHING and also saves me money because there's no need for me to pay for a parking...
