Zucker's Bagels & Smoked Fish — Restaurant in New York

Pains me to write this but service has plummeted. My first time dropping by service was quick and easy, toasted, great, everything. But the second time...

I stopped by with no one in line and 5 people behind the counter cleaning up and not making eye contact. One server gives them all the evil eye before grudgingly taking my order without writing it down. Then gets confused, asks me to repeat and starts writing it down. They don’t have everything bagels or plain bagels left, and they said they turned off the grill (at noon?!) so they don’t have ham/eggs. Finally I order a wheat w/ scallion cream cheese which they gave to a guy on the line to do. He heard the exchange, she clearly told him “scallion cream cheese.” After I bought and paid for it, opened it up at my office to find a garlic bagel and vegetable cream cheese.

Great spot for fresh bagels & plant-based spreads!

We got the everything bagels and the new Stockeld Cream Cheese (plant-based) & it was delicious. These bagels are a bit more “sour” than other NYC bagels I’ve had. They tasted almost like sourdough bagels but maybe it’s the malt that they’re sweetened with? Anyway, still a great bagel & we love the Stockeld cream cheeses because they’re vegan & are the closest to an original cream cheese without the animal cruelty! They also have other plant based spreads to choose from! Bagels confirmed vegan - not the egg bagels obviously. They also have gluten free bagels that are vegan as well.

This was my first time visiting & I loved the service here - it’s a lot more chill and orderly than other NYC bagel shops and you’re not totally cramped. Plenty of space...

It pains me to write this as I used to love this place. This morning the service was awful, 5 people behind the counter and only one actually taking orders. I got hard boiled eggs that were rotten ( didn't realize until I left) but as soon as I opened them the smell was disgusting and instantly threw them out. I also got an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. Pretty simple order. By the time I walked the 5 minute walk to my office the bagel was cold and hard, which makes me think the bagel was already made or old. The cream cheese tasted off as well. This was only 8 am so those bagels should have been fresh. I'm pregnant so I'm very aware of the food I take in and I was beyond mortified that an establishment would allow such gross food to be served. I will never...
