My first visit was a party of 5 in the dining room. I've eaten at many Capital Grilles over the years. Most aspects of this visit met expectations including the quality of the meal, the friendliness of the wait staff and the overall vibe. That said, this is a location still working to find their stride. The pace of the meal was off. Our second drink took 20 minutes to be brought to the table and their was almost 45 minutes between the salads and the entrees. It was busy for midweek and the wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. Management was aware of it and provided complimentary desserts which was appreciated. Overall, a good experience that I'm sure will only improve with time. STRIKE ONE!
UPDATE:
My second visit was with a party of 4 in the bar area. Food taste was OK but again service was friendly but unprofessional. They made a mistake on my drink order using a bar brand instead of my specific premium request. They had to throw it out and remake it. Whoever brought the food to the table had no idea who ordered which meal and we had to move food around after it was dropped off. STRIKE TWO!
My third visit was a party of 2 in the bar area. Again, very friendly service but unprofessional. The food drop again went wrong when she had no idea who ordered what and we had to call her back to move the plates since they were so hot. This time the food quality and taste also missed the mark. How does a kitchen let a wagyu burger go out on a burnt bun...to both of us. It's all you taste. STRIKE THREE!
In summary, this is a restaurant that is poorly managed with staff that has subpar training. They can get things right occasionally as the mixed reviews show but that's their problem...total lack of consistency. Two of my three visits required a manager coming by to apologize and the third should have but didn't. Again, poorly managed.
THREE STRIKES AND YOU'RE OUT...
Read moreMy fiancé, and I put reservations in for 6:30pm. We arrived at 6:24pm only to be told that they would have to clear a table off for us. I was fine with that since we arrived early. The receptionist called our name at 6:30pm, and started to walk us to a booth. We believed the booth was for us, because she told us to give her a second to set up the table. She ran back to her receptionist desk, then began to set up the booth with silverware, and wine glasses. After she set up the booth that we thought would be for us, She then began to walk us to a four seat high chair table top on the other side of the restaurant. Once we were sat, I went to the hostess table to let her know I needed a booth for recent back surgery I had. They were very kind, and moved us to the booth they originally cleared off that we believed was ours. Here’s the part that annoyed me even more. After being relocated, we waited 15 minutes before I had to ask a random hostess, who is our waiter/waitress, and where are they? It was 7:10pm mind you our reservations were for 6:30pm. They then got together, and gave us a waitress who honestly changed our entire night around. She was so nice, and did a great job. During our dinner, we had a random employee come by and drop a random plate of food at our table without saying one word to us, and she walked away without even asking if it was ours. Our waitress came back, and I asked her who’s food is this? She said whoever brought you this put it on the wrong table. She apologized. If it wasn’t for our waitress turning the night around we were considering walking out. We were there trying to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. It was not the best night for us. Management needs to do a better job at making sure the hostess's are doing their job, they should also do better on checking on...
Read moreIt’s been over a month since I’ve eaten here and I still can’t get over how bad my steak was. I ordered a Filet Oscar. One of the members of my party warned me that the Capital Grill cuts the steak of the Filet Oscar prior to serving. When ordering, I specifically asked that my filet not be cut. I repeated this several times to the waitress. When my entree arrived, surprise, surprise.. it was cut. Not only cut but charred. My first bite was my last. I’ve never had something this terrible in my life. I called the waitress over, who knew darn well that my steak was cut when she served it to me and pretended it must’ve been a ‘whoopsie’ in the kitchen. She even made a boo boo face when I called her over. She asked if I wanted a new one. I looked at my party of 8 and saw that they were all already halfway done their meals so I neglected a new one knowing I’d be holding up our after dinner plans. My wife gave me a piece of her standard filet. It was very good. I called the waitress over again and asked why my steak tasted like brisket and hers tasted normal. She had no answer. Instead she began telling another member of my party about her boyfriend. When my check came, there was no deduction or compensation. The next day I called the manager. He offered to let me come in for a ‘proper steak’ as he put it. I don’t trust free food so I declined. I would’ve rather gotten a gift card that could be used anonymously. A month has gone by and no exaggeration, I have told over 300 people about my experience. I shoehorn it into just about every conversation, even with strangers. If I bought a $400 electronic device and it didn’t work I would probably ask for a refund. At the Capital Grill, you’re stuck with your broken...
