Chico's Backstage, tucked away in Norfolk, offers a consistently enjoyable experience for those looking for a lively atmosphere, good drinks, and satisfying bar-and-grill style food. It's the kind of local gem that feels comfortable and welcoming, earning a solid four stars in my book. What I appreciate most about Chico's is its vibrant energy. Whether you're there for a casual dinner, to catch some live music, or just to hang out with friends, there's always a buzz about the place. It manages to feel like a neighborhood hangout while still drawing a diverse crowd. The decor is unpretentious and adds to the laid-back, fun vibe. The food menu features classic American comfort food and bar bites, and they do it well. Their burgers are consistently well-made and juicy, with a good selection of toppings. I'm also a fan of their wings, which come in a variety of sauces, and their appetizers are perfect for sharing. The portions are generous, ensuring you leave feeling satisfied without breaking the bank. It's solid, dependable pub grub that hits the spot. The drink selection is also quite good, with a decent array of beers on tap, including local options, and a full bar for cocktails. The bartenders are generally efficient and friendly, keeping the drinks flowing even when the place is busy. Why not five stars? While the food is consistently good for its type, it rarely ventures into truly exceptional or innovative territory – it's reliable and tasty, but not necessarily "wow" inducing. Service can sometimes be a bit hit-or-miss during peak hours; while generally friendly, there can be slight delays when the place is packed. Also, depending on the night and the live entertainment, the noise level can get quite high, making conversation a bit challenging at times. Despite these minor points, Chico's Backstage is a fantastic local spot. It's a go-to for a fun night out, a casual meal, or just to enjoy some good company in a lively setting. If you're in Norfolk and looking for a place with good vibes, solid food, and a relaxed atmosphere, Chico's Backstage is definitely worth...
Read moreHad the absolute most disrespectful experience in my life here. Before Friday 4/5/24 I've came here several times and spent money and even performed Karaoke. It use to be one of my favorite spots. Wednesday afternoon 4/3/24, out of curiosity, I asked for a higher up to ask if I could borrow two pool sticks because I was doing a play and needed them for a prop. I was directing a play at a Festival in town center. I spoke with an employee named Justin. I know his name because HE gave it to me and said I could use them. He instructed me to come back Friday (the same as the show). I asked him what time and he said anytime. I return to Chichos Friday 4/5/24, excited, thinking how incredibly generous this gesture was to assist my project. Justin had amnesia and treated me like I was a mad man with no recollection or sanity. The manager was so damn rude and racist. He told me that I did not come there or spoke with Justin because he worked 5 days ago. I guess I'ma idiot or somebody on drugs to make up a story. I was very frustrated that my time was wasted and I was made a fool of. Instead of saying that was a error. We don't lend out the sticks. Nobody took accountability for this. I didn't care about using pool sticks but I was told I was "Gonna get loud" for expressing my frustration for the lies. On my way out the door was shut in my face. I recommend nobody ethnic go in this location because the manager is racist and clearly had no respect for me as a African American man. Very...
Read moreGreat spot with great vibes. Mainly because the customer service from Deo at the bar is kinda next level. Probably the best bartender in Norfolk hands down. He really went out of his way to make my friends and I feel welcome there, and was attentive and very professional. Entirely customer service oriented, fixed us all great drinks and even went out of his way to let me borrow his cell phone charger because my phone died. Deo definitely sets the standard high and makes this place great!
The pizza is pretty awesome. I get the White or Greek with a side of the spicy marinara sauce and ranch. Comes out super fresh with this unique balsamic vinaigrette on top. Their happy hour specials are even better than the other bars. Only thing I would change is their access to local brews in the area on tap or bottle. As they are from Virginia, and have one of the best locations on Granby they really could set their bar apart from the others with beer and wine from local breweries/vendors to add the perfect flair.
Friday and Saturday nights the live music is a game changer. The place is way too much fun! And they have multiple areas too with tons of...
