Hong Kong Express N.R.H — Restaurant in North Richland Hills

Just picked up my lunch from here. Only gave 2 stars because of the customer service, the place seemed clean and the egg roll was decent although really greasy. I should have known something was awry when I pulled into an empty parking lot during lunch hour and was able to park right up front. It's like they were waiting just for me! Literally because when I walked in, they already had my food packed up on the counter and ready to go so I will give them points for the "express" service. I ordered the S&S chicken. Didn't opt for the lunch special because I was really hungry since I hadn't had breakfast. I got back to work, opened up my food and was very visually disappointed, as was my stomach. The portion was so small I thought maybe they got it mixed up with the lunch special. I decided to eat the skinny pieces of chicken anyway and as soon as the food hit my pallet I knew I was in for more disappointment. The chicken was very lacking in flavor, no salt, no seasoning and tasted like it was fried in oil that should have been discarded days ago. The sweet and sour "sauce" barely had any flavor and seemed watered down. I couldn't even coat my chicken to give it flavor. I still held out hope because I still had my fried rice to fill me up. Oh my gosh as soon as I opened the box I almost gagged. I am not overexaggerating when I say the rice had a very funky smell to it...I even tried to get my co-worker to smell it but he refused. I feel horrible saying that and maybe it's just another smell that I can't put my finger on but it really just made me queasy. I can say my appetite disappeared at that point. It may seem like I have it in for this place but I don't know anyone who works here or even owns this business. Like I said, they did have good customer service. This was my first and last time here. I'm just tired of throwing away money on places that think they can serve you horrible food. We all work hard for our money and I feel like if a business values it's customers they are going to put forth their best effort to keep customers coming in the door. • Follow up* I am editing my review because the manger just called and corrected the issue. I'll leave what I originally posted but great service and follow up from the management. Definitely makes them a 5 star service industry.

CHECK YOUR ONLINE ORDER! I would leave a 5 star review because we order there a lot. Food is good and service is fast but with their new online ordering thing you can easily get screwed. Last night I ordered our food with a total of 33.10 including the 2.00 delivery charge, on the online ordering it leaves a place fora tip which I included 10.00 because to me that is a generous tip for delivery on that size order. When the driver showed up she said he could leave the order as is at 43.10 total or he could change it and I could just add in the tip. I told him it didn't matter so the driver said he would change it and I could just add the tip in. Well the driver still put the 43.10 charge in (that was including the online tip amount I left which we discussed) and I asked him so I still have to add the tip in. The driver said yes so I clicked the 10 dollar tip and signed his iphone. I should have checked it all and stopped him but I didn't thinking he knew what he was doing (which shame on me for not checking him). Clearly the driver did not know what he was doing and I ended being charged 53.10 meaning I paid 33.10 for food and this driver just took me for a $20 dollar tip. I am extremely disappointed. I really loved this place until today. I ordered a Schezuan Shrimp and Kung Pao Shrimp and Crab Rangoons as always to be delivered. We got no soup or egg rolls and no sauces at all. When I called they put me on hold to get the manager. The manager listened to what was missing then put me on hold again to speak to the girl who just transferred me to the manager. (???) After several minutes she began explaining that I didn't mention that I wanted the dinner special for 2 entrees, 2 soups, 2 egg rolls and rice but she would credit the order. I absolutely did mention the $25.99 deal. They spent 10 minutes "explaining" what the problem was. No explanation was needed. Just send the things left out AND soy sauce/duck sauce, etc. They lost a very good customer who truly loved the food and service over soy sauce and egg rolls. Seems dumb to me. I like my food WITH sauces. I don't eat it without sauces. It was a very simple fix yet they continued to "explain". I'm so bummed.
