Exceptional Experience at Tandoor Wok
As a seasoned food enthusiast, I've been to many dining establishments across various cities and cuisines. However, my recent adventure to Tandoor Wok was as delightful and unexpected as they come. Initially intent on dining at a different locale, fates twisted in our favor when we found our intended destination closed for the evening. What seemed like a disappointing turn of events led us directly to arguably one of the best culinary experiences we've had - the Tandoor Wok.
We were greeted warmly by the owner himself, Amirali, whose hospitality was evident from the second we stepped into his establishment. His attentiveness remained throughout the evening, creating an ambiance as inviting as the aroma wafting from the kitchen.
The cleanliness of the restaurant was immediately apparent, showcasing their dedication to not just tasty, but also hygienic service. This was a welcome sight and set a pleasant tone for the evening.
Our culinary journey with Tandoor Wok started with two soups - the Manchow and the Sweet Corn. Both were absolutely stunning, balanced to perfection with a mix of flavors that set our taste buds on fire. The contrast between the slightly spicy, invigorating Manchow soup and the soothing sweet corn yielded a robust, palate-pleasing opening to our meal.
Next, we ordered the Hakka Noodles which were simply exquisite. The balance of flavors was a dance on our tongues, a delightful blend of spices and herbs that immediately transported us to a street-side noodle shop in Asia.
Hungry for more, we tried Shrimp with Hot Garlic Sauce. The choice was, without a doubt, remarkable. The shrimp were succulent, coated in the tantalizing hot garlic sauce that kept us reaching for more, a joyful mix of fire and flavor embracing every piece.
Then came the piece de resistance, a surprise from Amirali - Double ka Meetha (Bread Pudding). This was not just a dessert, it was a memorable ending to an already splendid banquet. Each spoonful was a delicate blend of sweet and creamy, enticing us to savor every bite.
I cannot recommend Tandoor Wok enough. The food, the service, the ambiance - everything was simply perfect. It isn't often that one stumbles upon such a gem in such unexpected circumstances, and I am very grateful for the serendipity that led us to Tandoor Wok. A heartful thanks to Amirali for his amazing hospitality and for crafting such a memorable experience. Keep up the good work,...
Read moreUPDATE Dec '21: Lowered the rating to 1. I used to love this place over a year ago. The last few times they have consistently disappointing me. Not just the food but the service. We ordered the kebab platter and half the items lacked flavor. The lamb was really good. The kebab was salty to the point it was inedible. We complained about it and the girl at the counter started to be defensive that it's supposed taste like that. We told her to try one. Immediately she asked if we wanted it replaced (she knew what was going on). We send the kebabs back and got replacements. At the billing counter she started arguing that we have to pay for the replacements. As we didn't back down and we send kebabs back she said said we have to give them a good review. I honestly feel they're management changed at some point. I have seen similar experiences in reviews of this place but due to the lack of options around here kept going back but this was the last straw. Just because you have more customers now doesn't mean you have to provide terrible food and disingenuous service.
UPDATE Jun '21: Consecutive to our first visit, service was kept lacking for dine ins. Didn't change for rush hour. No check ups nor did they even glance in the direction so had to actually go up to the counter every time. During our last visit, they made it seem like the fried rice was part of the selection even though it was $3 extra. Other than the Chicken 65, the food was uninspired. The manager still tries hard so I'll leave it at 5 stars but the employees REALLY need to shape up.
Summary: Our go-to place for great food. The manager here is really caring, saw him personally going around and asking if everything is enjoyable. The food is exceptional and my mom and I come here to celebrate our achievements. We usually ask to make it EXTRA spicy even though they don't mention that option and the food comes out delicious! Portions are good and fills up even someone as big as myself which is why I keep going back. We have tried the thai and chinese main dishes but not the south asian main dishes. However, the chicken 65 is a fantastic side dish. Prices are affordable and the place is kept very clean at all times.
Improvement Advice: Ambiance is a little lacking and makes it seem like a fast food place even though it's a restaurant. Although we've gone in the afternoon every time so maybe it's...
Read moreI utilize Google reviews regularly to determine new and interesting places to grab a bite to eat, and I am normally in line with the preponderance of the reviews. But I must go counter to that methodology this time.
Wow, was I disappointed with this restaurant. When I walked in, I didn't pick up the "this place rocks" vibe at all. Several tables needed to be bused and the place had the overall feel of a place I honestly shouldn't be trusting to prepare my food. Not dirty, just cluttered and things not in there place. Despite my gut instinct, I ordered anyway. I went for the Kung Pao Chicken. I wanted only a glass of water, which isn't available here, so get ready to spend a couple of bucks in bottled water. Instead of water, I opted for a beer at about the same price (the one bright spot on this visit). When my kung poa arrived, I had to sit back and scratch my head. When did this dish get served drowning in sauce? Okay, I can overlook an odd presentation, so I plow forward. I try the initial piece of chicken and now I am really confused. Where is the flavor, the taste, hell, anything. There was literally zero flavor in this dish and when I say zero, I mean ZERO. I can't remember a time where I was so puzzled with what I was served. What made this experience even more bizzare, is the number of 5star ratings this place has on our beloved Google Reviews.
Bottom line, unless you want to experience the most bland and tasteless Asian cuisine known to man, you may want to think about skipping this place and go to the Panda drive through instead. At least Panda has flavor and you don't feel like you have completely lost your sense of taste.
I hate writing bad reviews, but think it is completely deserved in this instance, so save your money, and more importantly, the frustration of a bad...
