We truly missed the Salty Mermaid last summer when the restaurant was leased out to another concept. It just wasn't the same without them. But now that they've returned, it feels like Wildwood has gotten a big piece of its soul back and we couldn't be happier. Let's start with the drinks: their beer list is incredible And their custom cocktails are absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere is also exactly the same as it was before an incredible both inside and out on the patio. As for the food... it's some of the best on the island, no exaggeration. The buffalo chicken flatbread deserves a special shoutout as it might just be the best flatbread I've ever had. The crust is perfect, the chicken is full of flavor, and the buffalo sauce is some of the best I've ever had as well. Another standout? The Littleneck clams. Served in a delicious, flavorful broth and piled high, they come with toasty baguette. We're so glad the Salty Mermaid is back where it belongs, and we hope they're here to stay in The Wildwoods for many years to come.

The below pic is before we went into Salty Mermaid. I personally have been several times and had no issue. On Saturday 8/5 around 1pm, I took my Diamond Diva sisters to have lunch. The girl who showed us to our table was very rude. She took us to a high top table. We been out fishing 🎣 all morning and needed chairs that supported our backs. Place was NOT CROWDED at all so requesting to move should not have been an issue. She was so angry that we asked to be moved. She was slamming the menus and silverware around. It was so obvious that she was pissed. We then got upset and didn’t feel comfortable enough to stay and eat. It was a horrible experience and I was even embarrassed that I suggested that we go there. The second pic is after we left Dog Tooth which was amazing, the food and SERVICE.

Hostess very rude. We were told a hour. A hour and a half later still waited. When we asked how much longer.. She holds up her list and said there are three parties ahead of you, she was very indignant! Stood on the sidewalk as others were seated after we put our name in. Winded up staring 20 minutes at our empty table, before our buzzard went off. How does that happened..really amazing no one put there name in after we did over a hour ago as we were the last party of six left on the sidewalk! Turning over empty tables when the party leaves didn't seem to a priority, a good busboy would have had them tables cleaned off and ready for the next party. On a positive note the food was excellent!! Wish we had a better experience.

Beautiful atmosphere. Exactly how it sounds beachy, blue and white with mermaids everywhere.

This could be an excellent restaurant with better management.

First what I enjoyed. Greg and the other bartender at the inside bar were very pleasant he made an orange crush that was the best mixed drink I have ever had. It was a mixture of an orange vodka gran gran with fresh squeezed orange. Delicious!

Food came out very fast.

My family had the lobster roll which was very good and gave it 4 stars because of the frozen French fries. For the cost there should be hand cut fries or a roasted potatoes or asparagus.

mahi mahi tacos 4 stars. 3 corn tortillas with mahi mahi. Fish was cooked medium and slaw on the top was good. Fish needed a bit of seasoning.

seafood risotto 4.5 stars because it tasted delicious the risotto was cooked perfectly and shrimp were cooked perfectly and the one of the 5 mussels was rotten and raw. Sadly came out looking like mush from an orphans home. Food all over the rim of the dish. I expect to pay $30 for this type of meal but at least clean the edges of the dish.

Mussels have a spicy andouille sausage on them. Beware if you don’t like spicy food. I love spicy but my son who ordered them does not. They tasted good but same issue I had. Some were rotten and not cooked. The person making this dish should make sure to clear out the spoiled mussels before cooking them. This should be basic to a chef or sous chef. Note to owner or manager: The menu should reflect that the sausage is spicy or give a non spicy option. A white wine butter sauce with a bit of parsley and garlic would be simple and delicious.

Crab cakes 5 stars they were good appetizer like tiny meatballs. Salsa was delicious. Wanted 5 instead of 3.

Constructive feedback: The front desk and table service lacks tremendously. Mostly due to poor training. It’s clear no one has said to them. Make eye contact, smile and say hello. Young ladies at the front desk were frazzled. We were told 45 mins and at the 50 minute mark I inquired how much longer to which she sighed and said ummm you are 4th without looking up. And then I said, ok, what does that mean time wise? I have hungry children. Just curious how come you don’t take reservations?” She shot back with “because people don’t show up”. All in all we waited an hour.

They do not take reservations. Basically the restaurant saying “Drive to the restaurant, sit outside (nowhere) on a busy road.” I suggest to the owner to Take reservations with a credit card. If people do not respect their reservations tell them you will charge their card $25. Get benches for outside or better yet turn the garden area below the outside deck into a holding place for those waiting. Have water or invite guests to come to the bar and have a drink. Funny enough I didn’t know there was an inside or an outside bar until I took my daughter to the bathroom because the front desk didn’t share that information.

They charge a credit card processing fee but it is not listed on their menu. I found out when I paid by bill and saw a “cash” price.

Table service needs practice. A lot of practice. We waited 10 minutes before anyone said hi. When the server came around she was frazzled and frantically trying to figure out what to do. We were hungry and impatient and Ordered food right away with water. One person came over with silverware but no dishes. One brought water and left the tray. Less tables per person clear systems of who does what and a management team who walks around to make sure it is all done.

If someone doesn’t eat their food and doesn’t take it home. They didn’t like it. Don’t charge them for it.

Again this could be an excellent restaurant. I will try it again but likely sit at the bar when I am back in a few weeks to see if anything has improved. I hope so again as this could be an...

Salty mermaid is awesome. Chowder is among the best I've ever had. Found only avail seat at bar Three TVs going 4 tending behind bar 5:25 arrrivel Bartender greeted immediately. Extended his hand and introduced himself standed by while placing beer order Gave beer fast w water Slugged Water within mins and refilled promptly without question Ordered chowder and mussels two app Chowder arrived by food runner in theee mins piping hot Fresh perfectly cooked roasted corn with loads of fresh blue crab meat Loaded w fresh ingredients and sherry that warmed my insides after a cool overcast day on the beach — delicious 15 mins passed enjoying the atmosphere bartender comes back I just asked about your mussels and they’ll be right out. Mussels delivered. Not one with a single piece of sand or grit. Every membrane removed. Broth was chunky full of fresh tomatoes onion some but not too much fennel with andouille sausage. Served with two pieces of hard roasted garlic bread almost like a nice biscotti to soak up the remaining sauce//broth with a nice crunchy piece of bread. Not a soaked napkin. Owner came to get feedback What an absolute gem. Would I come back —- hell yeah and I can’t wait to try something else on the menu. Nice job...

Very disappointing . Went for lunch! There is a reception area and as soon as I walked in waiters and waitresses just standing there . I had to walk between them to get into the door of the resturant. (Awkward). Then we get to the bar, beautiful and that were it ended . Service so slow . The people sitting next to me ordered food . Took forever .The bartender she kept apologizing . When the food finally came out they asked for ketchup . Ten minutes later I said to the bartender please get them ketchup. 16 dollars for a burger they waited 45 minutes for it . Then another 10 minutes for ketchup . Then they tell me the waiters gave them the wrong burgers . He got hers. She got his I ordered the crab and corn chowder . Was luke warm no crackers. All's I can say is I just did not feel comfortable here . Way to many employees all over the place . A small lady with glasses came behind the bar to give menues to the bartenders .She looks miserable. Not smiling she looked annoyed that we were eating at the bar and not a table. Get over it .Your at 26th and Delaware in North Wildwood ....
