We ate twice here during our four week stay in Ocala. If I could give it more stars, I would! We've eaten Thai food all over the country and this ranks in our top two. On our first visit, we began with an order of spring rolls and crab Rangoon. They both were fresh, made in-house, and full of flavor, enough to share amongst the four of us. We ordered pad Thai with tofu and one with chicken, drunken noodle with tofu, and spicy basil rice with shrimp, at the medium spice level. All agreed medium was about as hot as we could handle, but perfect. The tofu was delicately browned and cubed, the chicken was all white meat and melted in your mouth, and the shrimp was cooked and seasoned just right. The pad Thai had crushed peanuts on the side, the flavors complex, not just a peanut butter sauce like others. The other dishes had generous portions of vegetables and Thai basil. We finished our dates but agreed we were pleasantly stuffed! On our second visit the only change we made was ordering chicken satay and the dumplings as appetizers. Again, the flavors were over the top, distinct for each, and the dumplings were practically bursting, they were that full.
The service was fantastic, pleasant, quick, and attentive. The second visit, the smiling chef brought us our entrees, a nice touch.
The restaurant is not large, with dark wood colors, soft lighting, and relaxing piano music playing, creating a soothing environment.
We definitely recommend Ayuttaya and will visit again when we're in Ocala. My only regret was not...
Read moreMy wife and I have been eating at Ayuttaya for the past 10 years, and it was our favorite Thai restaurant in the area specifically for the food. We had an issue during our last trip that now has us looking for a new Thai restaurant. I ordered Pineapple fried rice just like I always do - with no broccoli. When it was brought out, the waitress had written down extra broccoli. No big deal, I said I would simply pick out the broccoli so they wouldn't have to remake it. When the bill arrived, I was charged $2 for ordering extra broccoli! It's not the $2 that is the issue here - it's the fact that they even added the $2, when they were the ones that messed up the order. When I asked about it the waitress told me that the manager had told her to charge me since I didn't send the entire order back. I have two issues here: 1) The waitress should never have even added the charge since she knew it was her mistake and 2) the manager should never have told her to charge me for something I didn't order. The manager came over and argued with me for a good 10 minutes - by now my meal experience was ruined, I was upset, my wife was upset, and I simply told them I refused to pay. They finally took off the $2, but we haven't been back since, and probably won't ever be. I've never seen such poor customer service anywhere and Ayuttaya has lost a customer for...
Read moreUnfortunately this establishment is sexist and extremely over priced. I should also mention the questionable cleanliness given my food was served with a side of black hair. Our server was very kind, but it was the chef (who I presume is the owner) was extremely rude. He came to our table 5 times asking if we needed a taxi and mentioning all the alcohol we had. Let me paint a picture 8 girls, 2 bottles of wine. I’ll do the math that’s 2 glasses per person. Our table raked up a $500 tab. Any other place of business would have been thrilled with this type of income. Unfortunately they lost 8 patrons and earned this picturesque review. Don’t come here if you’re looking for a fun light hearted Friday night girls night. You will be judged and reprimanded for any sounds of fun and enjoyment. The discomfort I felt for myself and my friends is inexcusable. Lastly as I mentioned my hair filled meal was still included on my tab, which had an automatic 18% tip on it. I had to embarrassingly ask for my food which was half eaten to be removed. In conclusion do not waste your time here, spend your money at a much more inviting dining experience...
