We stopped into Bagelicious Deli & Bakery for the first time, mid morning on a weekday, summer 2025. They were quite busy considering the hour. There were tables available, more so outside, if we wanted to sit. But we were basically just wanting to try a bagel to go. Bagel shops seem few and far between in the Ocala area. So it’s understandable why Bagelicious could be busy at that time. Anyway, as stated, we just grabbed a couple of bagels to go and didn’t try other things on the menu. But I will say that the bagels were decent. If you’ve spent time in the north east you may understand this when I say: the bagels were decent. No they were not the best bagels we’ve ever had. But, and I mean but. They were by far better than most we have come across in the area. Being an actual bagel shop with real bagels helps. So considering the area and such. To me, that makes them pretty good. So most folks will find them probably outstanding. We didn’t have to wait long since two bagels, not toasted were a pretty quick item. We actually waited longer to place our order, than to order, pick up and be on our way. But again, they were just two un-toasted bagels with butter or cream cheese. The prices are subjective to different folks opinions. Some may find them reasonable, but others may find them expensive. I guess it depends on one’s outlook. I did take a picture of the current menu at the time of our visit. I’ll include it, but you may have to zoom in since it’s a wide photo. Being in a strip mall, parking is hit or miss for how far away you’ll have to park. But that also means that there should always be somewhere to park. Also, entering and or exiting this strip mall could be something to think about so that you don’t have to make a u turn. Maybe look at the mall entrances/exits, since you’re already on Google maps, That way, you could plan the best way in and out to save you time and possible aggravation. All in all, I found Bagelicious Deli & Bakery, to be a good option for folks in the near by area. They are a better option for actual bagels in...
Read moreI love Everything bagels. I have had Everything bagels from a multitude of bagel franchises. At first, I was pleasantly surprised to notice that Bagelicious sprinkles their Everything Topping on BOTH sides of their Everything bagels. I thought “great, that’ll be even more great Everything flavor!” I was wrong. Bagelicious uses a very salty recipe for their Everything sprinkle. Their bagels were also drier than most. A good bagel should toast up warm, chewy and flavorful. However, the Everything bagels at Bagelicious toast up crunchier, crispier, and very salty.
That said, I love the New York style atmosphere of Bagelicious. You won’t see yuppie types with their laptops spending half their day in a quiet corner. There is no quiet corner here. Instead, there is a hustle and bustle reminiscent of a busy Manhattan restaurant. A fun change from the usual bland atmosphere of your typical chain bagel shop.
But eating one of their Everything bagels is injecting yourself with a serious sodium overdose. They should LOWER (by 75%) the amount of salt in their Everything sprinkle. They are NOT Pretzel bagels, but you would certainly come away with that impression after eating one. They also need to cover up their bagels (or whatever they need to do) so that they’re not so dry.
I really hate to have to go to Panera to get an Everything bagel, but I have no choice. Their bagels are smaller, but they're not loaded with salt.
RESPONSE TO OWNER's REPLY: Ocala is not a large city and has few choices in bagel shops. I am no big fan of Panera by any means, believe you me. But the truth is the truth. Your Everything bagels are absolutely LOADED with salt. I guess you think sodium is "silly". I have purchased a baker's dozen of your bagels on 4 separate occasions, so I didn't get a one-time bad batch. Each time, the Everything bagels toasted up crispy and crunchy - not warm and chewy, like they ought to be. And I could not even finish the last couple of bites of the last bagel out of the bunch, because it was just...
Read moreI understand in the wake of COVID times have changed. I also understand that a lot of businesses have changed and are adapting to new environments... however, this was my last attempt at this bagel establishment... it shouldn’t be THIS hard to get a dern bagel! They do not allow anyone but staff in the store, again that is fine... but have some consistency! I’ve been through their make shift “drive thru” which takes up a lot of space, not only worth the sidewalk but also road traffic within the complex. The last several times I’ve been there someone comes out and takes your order and gets your payment and then brings your order out... while you are waiting you are in a queue line of cars. Today however, I drive all the way from Orlando... passing by several breakfast places, waiting to get here this morning... I’m in line, waiting.. no one come to my car, the car in front has a friend that works inside who comes out and they share a hug and handshake, the car in front of him has Bren helped, the car behind me has a girl come up and take payment, so I roll my window down and ask if someone will come help me? She says without a missed beat, did you order already? Then said I needed to call my order in.. I said I don’t have a large order, I only want 1 bagel with plain cream cheese, nothing special. She then tells me that they are only doing call in orders and she cannot go inside and relay an order for a blueberry bagel!! Seriously!? I will not be back. Complete disappointment and lack of customer service... clearly they don’t need...
