Stopped in on our way home from to beach to grab some dinner to go. We'd heard good things about it and, as fans of spicy food, were excited to try it! Parked behind the restaurant and left my wife and kids in the van while I ran inside. First thing that struck me were the four or five employees standing around outside the restaurant. Seemed odd to have so many workers on break at the same time.
Went inside and checked out the menu. Decided to try the Combo #1 (two sliders + fries) along with an order of Angry Fries. The woman behind the cash register greeted me, took my order, and asked how my day was. She was friendly and all seemed well. I asked how her day had been and she said it had been slow. I was given a number and went over to the bar by the window to wait. And wait I did.
I began to get concerned when the first number I heard called was a couple dozen before mine. A few minutes later the next was called. A few minutes after that, another. My wife began to wonder where I was as the kids were wet, tired, and needed to get home. Finally after 42 minutes (I checked my receipt and watch) my order was ready. 42 minutes for chicken fingers and fries! I understand they haven't been open long and might still be figuring things out, but with such a limited menu it shouldn't take 42 minutes! (Raising Cane's and Zaxby's come to mind as similar places that get their food out MUCH faster.)
Grabbed my food and hurried out to the van. Again noticed the large group of employees standing behind the restaurant talking. Wondered if perhaps some them should be inside helping to cook the chicken and fries.
The sandwiches themselves were good. Chicken was crispy and juicy. Medium was a good heat level, while the hot was almost too spicy and had a different flavor. (Medium-hot would have been a perfect spice level.) The regular fries were just lukewarm, which was surprising after the 42 minute wait, but the seasoning was good. The Angry Fries were OK but not worth $7. They're basically fries topped with a few pieces of chopped up chicken, slaw, pickles, and hot sauce.
I'll probably give them one more chance and stick with the chicken sandwiches, either medium or hot. Hopefully, they'll have figured out how to get their food out in a reasonable time by then. If so, I'd give...
Β Β Β Read moreUpdate: down to 1 star, employees are rude, food can often times take 30+ minutes with no explanation or apologies. If you donβt like pickles and they put pickles on your food anyway, they wonβt remake it. They just throw the pickles off and hand you back the food. You can ask them to remake it, they wonβt.
The portions are a serious hit and miss, after going 10+ times there was never a solid 2 days where the tenders were ever close to the same size.
Donβt order a side tender for FIVE dollars. I donβt know where they pull these tenders from but theyβre always much smaller than the tenders you get with a main order even though theyβre FIVE DOLLARS FOR ONE.
This place was cool and I literally went 10-15 times in less than 2 months. But the constant service issues paired with the unreasonably high prices for a little bit of food, Iβll stick to Popeyes.
Definitely one of my new favorites here in downtown Oceanside, Iβm not a spice guy so medium is plenty spice for me.
Service is decent, in line for what you can expect just about anywhere these days.
The only reason this place isnβt 5 stars is the pricing/portions, there are other hot chicken restaurants that serve verified organic, clean ingredients for less money than this.
2 chicken tenders (not very large ones at that) and fries for $15 leaves you wondering why you didnβt just get a burger, 2 pizzas or something else for cheaper, more...

My buddy and I sell steak, chicken and seafood across Southern California, Nevada and Arizona, along the way we hit every dive bar, greasy spoon and habadashery; I enjoy sharing them with you. Angry Chikz is located on Mission a few blocks up from the beach. You may have to drive around a bit as parking is scarce. The building ID neat and clean with an open air bar and outdoor seating. I ordered the two sliders with French fries. There are levels of spicy ranging from mild to angry, to order the angry you have to sign a waver, I went with the angry. I love spicy food and seldom do chicken wings live up to the dangerous sounding names like atomic or nitro. The Angry is hot beyond any attempt to describe it. My ears were ringing, sweat poured off my brow, I lost vision in one eye and I vividly halucinated dead relatives laughing at my anguish. The chicken brest was tender and juicy, it was topped with coleslaw and pickles. The French fries were seasoned and crunchy. I really enjoyed my meal and wholeheartedly recommend it however I recommend avoiding the Angry unless you like ghost pepper level heat, it will likely be the hottest food you...
