Conveniently located off the Interstate which gave us a break from being in traffic. Sunshine Kitchen is located on the opposite end of Wal Mart Neighborhood Market next door to a taco shop and Pho place. Huge outdoor patio with heaters.
It’s a Japanese restaurant serving curries, rice bowls, plates, rolls, poke, fried rice, ramen, yakisoba/udon, hot soba/udon, salads and sides.
We ordered:
-spicy garlic edamame: Great garlicky sauce -Takoyaki: The least fav of all, it was a giant ball that had too much wheat flour that we just plucked out the tiny bit of octopus -chicken karaage curry over steamed rice: We asked for a higher spice level and it had all the right spice and curriness. -Oceanside roll: OMG this roll is so good. Fresh thin slices of avocado and soft shell crab. Inside had more crab and shrimp tempura. -Dinner plate #2 (chicken teriyaki over fried rice, 2 gyoza, mix tempura, Japanese potato salad, and green salad): Had a mix of everything.
My fav was the Oceanside roll with the soft shell crab and avocado topping. The dinner plate was huge but I’m not a fan of the teriyaki sauce. It was thicker than normal and overly sweet.
I was surprised a small place that has their hands dipped in everything may not be as good but I was wrong.
The service was wonderful. You order and pay first before you sit. Sunshine Kitchen is on our list to return if we need to dodge traffic again.

I've lived in Japan for two years and have tried many restaurants out there. Outstanding restaurants at that. And while the level is not as far as those out in Japan. They are very close.
However, this restaurant is quite literally the best Japanese restaurant I have ever eaten at. I have never ordered, sat down and in 5 minutes my food is already prepared and tastes like i waited 2 hours for it. Its delicious and super filling. Not only is this the best restaurant in CA but I would wager its fighting with the best in the world. The sushi is delicious and the freshest tasting I've eating in this area. The ramen is authentic and tastes like those same ramen shops I would frequent on weekends in Okinawa.
Not to mention the insane prices. I mean Holy cow what are these low prices. There's no way ramen and sushi this good costs only 5-10 dollars in the states. For this quality it would be upwards of 15-20. But I ain't complaining. I love this place to death and it is my new favorite spot to hit up...
Read moreMy husband and I are in town on our honeymoon, originally from Phoenix, Az. Since we've been here, we've tried expensive restaurants that have been disappointing after disappointing. Tonight we decided to do something quick and easy. We found Sunshine Kitchen. We went in and immediately noticed how clean it was. The second thing we noticed was the employee, Ryo. All I can say is, if I owned a business, I would want him working for me. He was beyond kind and sincere. He was gracious and genuine. Whoever runs this business, be proud you have an employee like that, representing your restaurant. I would also like to mention that the food was incredibly fresh and hot! Absolutely delicious.... And the prices are incomprehendible. I mean that in the best way possible. You get so much fresh, hot and delicious food for a steal. If you haven't eaten there, go now. Also, say hi to Ryo because...
