Sunnyside Diner — Restaurant in Oklahoma City

The food was good, and the diner was very busy, but the wait staff seemed a bit dysfunctional. During our visit, we interacted with about five different waitresses, and there appeared to be a lack of communication and organization with the staff. The first waitress we encountered seemed a bit irritated with us and another couple waiting to be seated because we both wanted to sit at booths, and they had to clean them quickly. From the time we entered until the time we left, took over an hour. It took around 20 minutes to get our drinks because the first waitress failed to bring them to us and we had to reorder them. The food took about another 25 minutes after we ordered. At one point, another waitress approached us to ask if we were ready to check out, but we explained that we hadn’t even received our food yet. Immediately after this interaction our food came to the table. There were some additional issues during checking out that took longer than it should. My suggestions for anyone planning to visit, be patient and maybe avoid the booths. It seemed the tables in the middle got more attention from the wait staff compared to the rest of the seating area. My suggestions to manager or owner would be to add signage at the entrance, letting patrons know how to be seated, as this was unclear. Given the high volume of customers, they could benefit from hiring a busboy to clean tables instead of relying on the waitresses. Additionally, not sure how the wait staff service is structured to wait on tables, but it was unclear who was responsible for taking care of the tables since we interacted with so much of the wait staff. I like most locations for Sunnyside, but this one is really hit or miss. I've ordered corned beef hash and gotten more fat than meat in the dish. Ordered burgers that were served cold. Still, I kept returning as I do like the food when they are on as the other locations seem to always be, and this location is far closer to my home than the others. Earlier today, my family and I went to this location. When we arrived and were told a 30-minute wait, which was perfectly acceptable. We gave them our number and went back out to our vehicle as there isn't much of a waiting area and waited for a call to get a table. We were called 20 minutes later and offered outside seating. We were concerned that it was February, and we had two children with us but were willing to give it a go. Unfortunately, the offered seat was in the shade (and therefore rather cold), so it wouldn't work for us. We told the waiter we would pass on that table and to keep us on the list. We repeated to keep us on the list several times. After waiting an additional 30 minutes in our vehicle we called to inquire as to where we were in line to be told they removed us from the list completely. No offer to seat us due to their mistake. No offer to even place us back on the list at the end again (after waiting almost an hour total). Attempted to go back inside to inform a manager of the situation, but employees seemed solely concerned with getting me to leave and stating they had removed us from the list. Won't return to this location and honestly I'll probably think twice about the other locations as this has really left a bad taste in my mouth...

This was the first time checking this place out. And it was sure busy at 9am, I tried to get there early so I didn't have to wait. You do seat yourself so that is nice, but also odd at the same time. Anyways the waitress was quick to come over and ask if I wanted something to drink. Once my friend arrived she was back again asking what we would like to eat. We asked her what is good and she gave us a brief run down of what she liked and didn't like. I ended up ordering the chicken fried steak and my friend ordered an omelette. I will say I am impressed because we got several different sides with our order. I wish they would have put it on the menu before I ordered so I didn't make the waitress tell me what they have but she was nice about it. The food came out pretty quickly, there was nothing I could say was wrong with my food. It was delicious and a huge amount for the price. I really enjoyed the coffee, and I think I had 4 or 5 cups so definitely worth the $2 for it. We walked out for under $18 before tip so that wasn't bad at all. The only weird thing was that there was a kid who was ringing up our total so that threw me off. I don't think he was of age but I could be wrong. I would definitely come back here and check out the other options they had, such as the omelette and other...
