Gosh, I have so much to say, where to begin?
TLDR Version: FUTURE customers.... Food options are individual slices of pizza, or small side salads. You won't have table service, and will be ordering at the bar. It is CASH-ONLY. You may experience strange customer-service behavior, and weird excuses for things.
Overall, I was really confused here. I was expecting a high-end experience, but it really wasn't... at all.
The vibe and atmosphere IS 10/10. There is nothing as cute and stylish in Olympia. It's SUCH a beautiful, relaxing space.
But the experience.... Order at the counter, only small portions available, cash only.... Makes me so confused. It does not match the environment. I was expecting to spend $$$ on a fancy dinner here, but the menu didn't provide the opportunity to do so. Drinks on the other hand were $$$ -- overpriced. But they were also underpoured, and not very good.
My partner ordered an old fashioned and instead of using sugar or a simple syrup for a sweetener, the bartender used a dribble of cherry juice, stating that it wouldn't give him cancer... odd.
We left soon after ordering a pair of drinks and a slice of pizza because... I wanted dinner and quickly realized we couldn't really get that here.
This would be a perfect spot for... Happy hour? Lunch? But they don't open until 5:30... Dinner time. Soooo why aren't there large portion options? For example, I would have loved to have ordered a large salad entree and easily paid... $20-25, but I could only order a $6 very small side salad. Like... What? If they are already making small salads... couldn't they make entree sized salads too?
And actually is it open at 5:30 or is it 6? They have 2 signs outside the building with different open hours...? That's confusing.
I saw this other couple (younger) in the restaurant who presumably were on a date night... They looked incredibly disappointed. I imagined they wanted dinner too.
The pictures on Google maps of food items that aren't pizza are no longer accurate.
Also, the lit up open sign should be raised higher so that people can actually see it...
Read moreWe have nothing but gratitude for Lisa and her staff at the Mark. We stumbled upon the restaurant on a date night soon after our engagement. Soon after sitting down to dinner we realized that the Mark's Red Room would be perfect for our reception. Lisa was gracious to show us the space and start the planning process with us. The direct communication during the planning phase (and whole process) was greatly appreciated. Nothing was overlooked. In the end, we also ended up holding the ceremony on the beautiful patio - this was a last minute change that was seamlessly incorporated into our wedding plan. With Lisa's guidance, we were able to create a delicious organic Italian menu that met the dietary needs of our guests. The wines selected paired perfectly with our meal. Slightly over a month later, we're still getting feedback from our friends and family about how much they enjoyed the whole experience.
We were able to decorate the space to our taste working with Lisa so we knew how to make sure the flowers, etc. didn't interfere with the serving of our family style dinner. The Mark also made our wedding cakes - an almond vanilla cake with mascarpone icing and also a flourless chocolate torte. Whoa. These were stellar.
Adding to the ease of our wedding weekend, Lisa and her sous chef also created and made Greek inspired food for our off-site wedding rehearsal dinner. This was totally above and beyond as this isn't a service the Mark generally provides. Again, there was close communication as they developed the menu. And, it was catered to the dietary needs of our guests. Most importantly, it was fresh and totally delish!
Overall, it was a flawless experience and the whole event was executed without any stress on our part. We wouldn't have...
Read moreUnreMarkable! - What a disappointment. The Mark is an Olympia favorite but the new plan fell far short or our high expectations. Drinks average, pizza well below average (nearly raw and doughy on top and overdone on the bottom and flavors less than special) and customer service pretty bad. Let’s face it making pizza ahead of time then “finishing it off” is not the best method of preparation and Oly is not exactly known for restaurants with good service? I love how the server made her problem, attending to other customers who arrived after me, my problem by telling me I should have spoken up earlier rather taking responsibility for not paying attention and then showing considerable attitude when challenged. This on top of watching her make other server errors with her customers, her boss having to explain things to her and her work mate asking her to not just call out orders but put them in the system. My sister ordered a bottle of wine and five glass but was uncomfortable carrying all of it to the table. Once I finally got to place my order I took the tray of glasses to the table and as I’m about to return to pay the sever had chased me down to say come back and pay for what I had ordered in a not so nice tone. This person has no clue / customer service skills. Seriously doubt we will be going back. Based on the experience and the fact so few people were there on a Saturday night if things are not corrected The Mark’s survival might...
