If I could give a zero score, I would. I understand that this establishment has only been open for a month and I keep things like that in mind when experiencing new places. I would have been more than patient with waiting, if it was busy, but that was not the case with my experience this evening. My husband and I were really excited to try this location. We had been to the one in Auckland, New Zealand and had a fabulous experience. We couldnt wait to try the one close to home. When we walked into Cham Pang Lanes we asked how to get to Ghost Donkey. The host pointed to a door at the end of the hall and said sit anywhere, a server will assist you. It was a beautiful day, so most of the guest were sitting outside but we decided to sit inside next to a party of 6 that were already served. We thought perfect, we will take the empty table next to them and most likely have the server assigned to that table. We waited 10+ minutes and NOT a single server acknowledge us or attended to our table. We went on a Thursday night and there were 4 servers workng. Some of them were standing around at the bar. There was also someone that looked like a manger who was setting up a reserved hightop table, they looked over at us, but didn't say anything and walked away. Then the server that was assisting the table next to us, came over to check on them, took an order and walked away. She didn't even acknowledge us at all. The breaking point is when a table of 4 came in and sat at a hightop, not the one that the manager set up, and were immediately served shots. We are very disappointed with our experience at Ghost Donkey. My husband and I are usually the first to try new places, this is one establishment we will not be recommending to our...
Read moreI’ve been here 3 times now so I figured I would finally put in a review. My friend and I stopped in after leaving an event in the park. Each time I’ve come I’ve gotten better and better service. I’ve enjoyed this place as not only in agave spirit, lover, but also a mixologist myself who loves to see the unique Mixology that goes on into these beautifully crafted cocktails, that you will not see anywhere else. La chispa was so great with that hint of habanero and tang from the acv. I got to talk to the bartender a bit about their shrub in it! They were super cool! Oaxacan is always another favorite. The three bartenders behind the bar Saturday night, and the one server were all a delight and very knowledgeable and friendly. Even with it being a somewhat hectic night. I will agree, with some of the comments of the music is a little loud. I tried to just keep in mind that maybe it’s me getting older and I just can’t keep up. I do like to be able to talk to my friends and hear them. None the less. The music is great. Also, before opening, I was told there would be gluten-free options. I see online now that there is a gluten sensitive menu. Nothing is labeled on the menu in house, though. There have been a couple places downtown that have had options, but they told me due to not being able to communicate clearly with the kitchen, they would not be able to ask them to change gloves or anything like that since I have celiac disease. Although that is a disappointment for me, I am still very happy to come in even if it’s just for cocktails. The photos are from the first time I came. I could not remember the two drinks. I tried that night, but I do remember they were...
Read moreGhost Donkey has a cool aesthetic and a stylish patio, but unfortunately, the overall experience left a lot to be desired.
The decor is fun and vibrant, and the outdoor space has potential—though the cushions were soaked from earlier rain. I didn’t mention it to staff, but this is something they should be checking and addressing on their own. The outdoor heaters were inconsistent, and certain spots were uncomfortably cold.
What ultimately sealed the decision not to return was the presence of multiple small children on the patio, loudly playing foosball and running around—despite the website clearly stating the venue is 21+. I specifically chose this place based on that policy and was disappointed that it wasn’t enforced.
The cocktails were strong but very small for the price. Food is served, but it’s more snack-style than anything substantial. Service was minimal—we had to ask for basic things like cutlery (which did not include knives), and the water tasted straight from the tap.
Finding the entrance was another challenge—there’s no sign, and you have to go through a bowling alley to get inside.
Ghost Donkey has the look, but the lack of attention to detail, misleading age policy, and weak service mean I won’t...
