McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in Omaha

OMG! Amazing! I am kicking myself for not taking pictures from my visit yesterday. I was there between 1230-2pm, on Saturday, the 12th. Not very busy for a Saturday, but it was very cold, so I understand that. We were able to seat ourselves, and it was very clean. The staff would clean the tables often. The tableside option is amazing. You order from the app/website and they deliver it right to your table. There was an issue in the app with ordering one of the sides. The staff was very accommodating, and substituted, no issues. I got the New Yorker, with the horseradish Dijon and potato salad. For the price, it was a very good value. Lots of meat, and the ratio of bread to meat to condiments was perfect. The taste. On point.😋

Hubby got the same as me, but on a baguette instead of marble rye and honey mustard. He also got the black Angus spud, both of which were amazing! He also got the broccoli cheddar soup. I personally thought the soup was a little bland for my taste, but I was also eating a VERY flavorful sandwich, so I don't hold that against them.

Our son got the modified ham melt. He is a little picky and a little vanilla. So he took off everything but the ham, cheese and mayo. He is 14, and that filled him up.

My mom got the veggie spud and the French dip with potato salad. The veggie spud has a slight kick because of the Rotel cheese sauce, but the broccoli and spinach was interesting. I've never had veggies on a potato, but it was good.

The drink refills are free and the staff is very helpful and hardworking. I would/will...

6/11/2022 Stopped by to collect my birthday cookie 🍪 and had the Ham & Cheese melt with potato salad. The food was good and the cashier was really cute. We've been treated well over the last couple of years. Plus one star 🌟 5/19/2020 This was my first time here. I don't usually go to places like this, but my wife wanted to go so guess what, we went. :) They have a nice selection of deli type fare, most of which didn't appeal to me, but I finally settled on the Ham and Cheese Melt, fruit cup, and an ice tea. We eat out a lot and I don't like getting in behind people, like me, that aren't familiar with the menu, but there wasn't anyone behind us so that was good. The cashier was very patient with our indecision. Anyway, the Ham and Cheese Melt was actually good, so if we go back that’ll probably be what I get. The prices are what I would consider a good value, the facility was clean, the staff, as I’ve already alluded to, is helpful and friendly. The location is easy to get to and get out of. My wife didn’t want me to give a bad rating because she knows I wasn't excited about going here. I try to be fair but all of my reviews are colored by my preferences. I did ask my wife how she’d rate the place if she was rating it. She say’s it’s a solid 4 or maybe five stars. But she doesn’t do reviews. Since I’m the reviewer I go with what I prefer. I have mostly enjoyed this Mcallisters Deli until Friday 4/30. We ordered our food they didn't say anything about food being low or a long wait at all but after the order we stepped bas and waited and waited. several online orders came in picked up their stuff and left. Another to go order came in and were told there would be a wait on specific items so they ordered something else. we at time felt lucky like maybe we ordered last of specific food and had come at right time. More people come in they get their food the counter people say nothing to us and we are just standing there and at the least 15 min have gone by. Finally when 25 min go by I go up and as why we had been ignored for so long because that was how we felt the response I got was you werent ignored we are busy you want a cookie. The other person up front actually said I am sorry but was still blaming the fact that he doesn't work up front. I was not rude I didnt yell but I tried to explain why we were upset and I am sorry forcefully stating you want a cookie was NOT the right thing to say! When we got home my moms rost beef spud didn't have au jus it had been served with chili. yeah um we hadnt ordered chili. Then one of our spuds was supposed to have a side of cheese and we got broccoli cheese soup. and there was no sour cream with it. So we waited all that time and the food was not even right.
