3 words: Hot garlic sauce. It was delicious. I had "Shredded" pork in hot garlic sauce (actually pork was minced and in flaps, which I prefer texturally anyway) and it was fabulous--mild heat, a hint of sweetness, well-balanced acidity, terrific savory flavor. My friend had the Eggplant in hot garlic sauce which she let me try, and it was perfectly cooked and equally good. We shared a green onion pancake which had a delectable texture (like a griddled tortilla but a bit chewier) but no green onion color or flavor to speak of, so feel free to order it as a side for kids even if they hate veggies, they'll never know. Portions were generous (rice comes upon request), menu is varied with many different regional Chinese dishes represented, but they also kept a few Chinese-American favorites such as Orange Chicken and Kung Pao for those seeking something familiar. Extensive seafood menu for those interested as well. Our food came out in only about 5 minutes after we ordered it, piping hot. Only downside would be that there is no ambience to speak of and dining room is too small for a large party. Restaurant is sort of a hybrid set up, with a to-go counter even though they wait on you if you dine in, but your food is still served in to-go containers and you fill your own Styrofoam water cup by the door. Still none of that matters if all you're looking for...
Read moreNot what we were expecting. Didnt recognize most items on the menu. Did not have much in the way of traditional Chinese American dishes. The cucumber salad was horrible. It was peeled and chopped up cucumber with fresh garlic sprinkled on top. The noodles with beef seemed safe. It was pretty tasty but waaaaay toooo salty! My mother had to add water and eat it like soup to water it down making it somewhat edible. The kung pao beef "seemed" safe, but was inedible. Each bite was like eating a 1/2 teaspoon of salt. No joke, no exaggeration, it was beyond just salty, it was a little beef with the salt dish. The beef was like chewing on cardboard. The person behind the register was also the server and waited the tables. He was very hard to understand as he didn't speak English very well. I would not go back and would not recommend anyone eat here especially those with high blood pressure, just...
Read moreAt lunch, eight of us ordered 8 dishes to share, sizzling iron beef, local flavor lamb, ma-po tofu, pork intestine noodle, vegetable fried rice, steamed juicy dumpling, etc. All are very tasty, pretty and in good size. We emptied all of them except the cold appetizer chicken. The services by two young ladies were very good. I want to recommend the dessert - Rice Bowl - excellent but not by reading the title. It is fermented rice soup with stuffed little bopo balls. We all got a bit of alcohol and a bit sweetness, helping us balance out the few spicy dishes, a...
