Jaya’s kitchen Indian vegetarian restaurant opened up sometime back in orange Connecticut . We were very excited about the place as we have been to Jaya’s kitchen in Wallingford and had great experience . We went to orange location on 8/24 for lunch around 12:30 to celebrate a friends birthday and we were 8 people . We ordered dahi poori , gobhi 65 , mushroom 65 , pondecheri dosa , gobhi paratha , masala idli and dabeli Dahi poori was ok , paratha was horrible it was very very thick with uncooked dough no salt in the stuffing and looked really bad . Dabeli was absolutely cold like it was out of freeze and just kept at room temperature , Idli was fried and very very dry , dosa looked nice was okish but no authentic South Indian taste . Gobhi and mushroom looked exactly same in color just in 2 different plates , no taste no sauce and as if someone put beetroot color in them . We thought may be ordered wrong things and this is a South Indian place so we should order something authentic . We specifically asked for authentic south Indian traditional medhu vada and utthapam . But this was even worse , vada was uncooked and we could see raw daal and batter one took off a bite . Uttapam looked like vegetable pulao with all possible vegetables and half cooked . By this time we were so frustrated and were ready to get out the door and asked for the bill . We sent the vada back as is with waiter and then chef came out since we complained about the food . he started blaming on the other chef that he is new etc etc . Overall horrible horrible horrible food our whole day was spoiled . I will never go back again and none of my friends and their families are ever going back again . They spoiled the name of Wallingford location as well . Too bad as we were really hoping we will finally have a good South Indian dining place in our town but looks like we have to...

Read moreThis place is amazing for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike... everything we had was so good. My partner is vegetarian and they tell me how refreshing it is to see a fully vegetarian menu without having to worry.
It was my first time having dosas, so I asked the waiter (who was amazing and so kind!) for a recommendation and she suggested the Onion Rava Masala, which was a great choice as it was so flakey and delicious. It was a great portion and had a variety of delicious accompanying sauces. Speaking of variety, they had a huge selection of dosa which is a unique item I don't see often at many Indian places I've been to in CT. We also got the Kadai Paneer medium spice as our entree which was so flavorful, and it was also my first time having Peshawari Paratha for dessert which has changed my life lol. My only regret is that we didn't have enough stomach space to try more food. We are excited to come back!!
Random tidbit but me and my partner were highly entertained by the features on their website homepage, you should...
