Food was pretty good however the service, staff, and seating were severely lacking. Came to this area for Hamburger Mary’s but unfortunately they moved locations and didnt update the google maps so we ended up here at Birria 1983. Upon entering we were greeted by a lovely atmosphere and young man who was pretty awkward (i mean same but gosh). He wanted to seat our family of four at a small table in front of the door. We asked if we could be seated at another table but the ceiling was leaking so most of the back left of the restaurant was closed with multiple buckets catching the drips. There were several buckets on the bar filled with dirty yellow water and a bunch of places all over the ground that were puddles with water and no signs out to warn you. The young man struggled to explain this to us and hit us with multiple “umms”, “uhs” and some anxious fidgeting. So we took the seat by the door. The table was much too small. I had to sit off to the side of the table due to another table behind us being too close and not allowing me to sit under the table without hitting another persons chair. My brother sat with his back to a door where a plant continuously poked him in the back. The wait for tables quickly backed up, due to the staff being away from the host counter for a long period of time, so my father felt quite uncomfortable with having a bunch of hungry people standing directly behind him. They serve the water from a bottle into these small glasses. The waiter poured one glass and left with one of the other glasses because it had food on it. He didnt come back with the glass. We drank the water from the bottle and another waiter came to fill it back up and left with the bottle but also never came back. We asked for more chips and salsa and that didnt come for about 20min. No body came to check on out table for long time. More and more tables became empty around us however the service did not become more accommodating to us. The food finally came and was pretty good. My mom had the taco salad and enjoyed it a lot. My father got the birria burrito and enjoyed it a lot as well. I got the birria loaded fries; it was good but i wouldnt order again. My brother got the a’ mash burrito and said it was just alright. We finished our meal and then waited another long period of time before we got our check. We even joked that it felt like we were being held hostage! Over all the food was good but the service and distaste of the seating arrangement mostly ruined...

The worst customer service i’ve ever experienced! The food was good, but our waiter was horrible. First of all me and my friend came in at about 9pm and we wanted to get some margaritas that were advertised at the front. The waiter however said that the bartender left and he was the only one working. When we asked him to make margaritas he said he is not allowed to because he is underaged. The fact that an underaged guy was the only one working (on a tuesday as well) was the first red flag… We waited FOREVER for him to even come up to us to offer water (even though it was us and one more table sitting at the restaurant). We kept calling our waiter up and he was actually just ignoring us. Later, when he brought out the food (we got birria tacos), he spilled the consomé all over the table!!! And the worst part was that he didn’t even clean it up. We waited and waited and he just left and proceeded with doing other things. So me and my friend literally had to use napkins to clean up the mess that HE MADE ourselves!!!

At about 9:40pm some other people came in to eat and the waiter told them that the restaurant was closed. (Even though it says they close at 11pm). The whole time it felt like he wanted us to hurry up with our meal and leave, because he kept coming up to us while we were eating. And at the end, when we ordered dessert, he didn’t even take away our plates or the HUGE pile of napkins that were covered in consomé (that we used to clean up his mess). So we had to clean our table up ourselves and set the mess aside because we didn’t want to eat our dessert like pigs!!!

I’ve never experienced such lack of care for customers, and I do not recommend coming here for anyone, unless the management takes care of this and starts training...

In December 2024 I booked a reservation from this platform for this evening 2/15/25. In the reservation form it asks if you are celebrating anything special and I was happy to let them know my husband and I will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary dinner before a comedy show. The reservation was confirmed on December 27th 2024 and confirmed again the morning of. When we arrive the sweet girl at the hostess stand asks for our reservation. We give our name, reservation time, and party size. The manager soon arrives and tries to open an app on his phone to confirm. He cannot find it and asks for our confirmation which I happily show on my phone immediately. They are obviously caught off guard by our request. We are quickly sat at a high top table outside and given menus. Within 2 minutes of looking around you can tell everyone seated outside is agitated and upset. My husband and I were served chips and salsa and our drink orders were taken. As we eat the chips and salsa we notice others chatting with each other about their wait and lack of service. We watched atleast 5 tables get up and leave nothing but menus on the table. We soon followed. It was very disappointing to have an evening we planned for months so ruined in this way. We were really looking forward to the experience. Now, I’m not sure I would chance it again. Beware: If you are on any time schedule or like to make reservations ahead of time - this may not be the...
