GREAT SUB SHOP - BUT BAD PANHANDLER PROBLEM ! This is a great local sub shop located in a cool place right across from the beach. Their sandwiches are really good and fairly priced, also the people that run it are extremely friendly. However, the plaza that is located in has had a continuous problem with homeless panhandlers camping out on the sidewalks in front of the restaurants. Some of these people have such foul body odor that it will almost make you vomit when you’re trying to eat your lunch, plus the continuous problem of them soliciting you for money. This is nothing new; it has been an ongoing problem at the shopping plaza for years. It’s not really the fault of the restaurant owners but the owner of the plaza itself. They are taking no effort to have these people given trespass warning’s and arrested if they return to the property. They just seem to tolerate it at the expense of the shop owners and customers. I do however feel sorry for these people but they need to be informed that there is a brand new homeless shelter that this opened in Daytona Beach called First Step Homless Shelter located at 3889 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach. They can receive food shelter and care at this location. Sorry to inflict such Tough-love but all of the shop owners in this plaza really need to send a message to the owners / landlord that they need to clean this plaza up. The three stars given are only because of this homeless Panhandle problem and not meaning to reflect on the quality and service of the sub shop at all.

Sadly, disappointed. We had sandwiches for takeout the night before. And breakfast the next day. The staff is super friendly and very nice. Let’s start with the sandwiches. $32 for a sub and a sandwich. So someone on the pricey side to say the least. The Philly cheesesteak sub was large and while it was Tasty, it’s not exactly a Philly cheesesteak in my opinion. It was about average the turkey Reuben on rye was really good. Came to pickle spear which was nice. The potato salad was decent. Breakfast is where we were most disappointed. Bacon and egg sandwich on a Kaiser roll With a hash brown danish and what we were told was orange juice. They definitely use fresh cracked eggs and the egg itself was good. The bacon was decent. The Kaiser roll tasted like it was either previously frozen or refrigerated so it had to be toasted. The dish tasted like something you get out of a multi pack at Costco, and individually wrapped. The hash brown, couldn’t even eat it. Tasted like something to get in the Walmart Frozen aisle. The orange juice wasn’t really orange juice, it was a juice blend and I hate that. Breakfast was also very expensive just over $20 for two egg sandwiches at Danish hash brown and two orange juices. In conclusion, their bread could be a lot better. The portions are a good size but it’s a bit pricey. Nothing special about this place, especially for the high prices in my opinion.

We placed an online order about 20 minutes before closing. Called me about five minutes later to tell me they were getting ready to close and had turned their oven off. I asked if they could still make cold sandwiches and he said they could, but asked if I would make it by closing time. I told him I would be there in three minutes. He actually suggested I cancel my order but said he’d make them. Got there in plenty of time and received my order. Got back home and none of the four sandwiches were made as ordered and the salad was without dressing or egg but with jalapeños, banana peppers and the end slices of tomatoes. The sandwiches tasted all right, despite not having the oil and vinegar but the service leaves a lot to be desired.

Not impressed with the cleanliness or service. Food was decent. First, as soon as I walk in my eyes and lungs get a does of something burning. So ventilation not working properly.I can't take a deep breath in this place and I don't have any breathing issue. I walk out and leave the order to my date. I have to retreat to the sidewalk outside to breath properly. I catch my breath and walk in to check the order . As I look around, wondering what I have just walked into.. I can see its not clean (open kitchen). The sandwich box is a mess with all the topping strewed about . What bothers me the most is the staff is like leaning up against the food prep surface with their behinds, where they make the subs. The "ovens" are smoking and the pans they use are black with burnt grease (on top of the oven). The place needs a remodel and deep deep clean and new pans and ventilation. I feel sorry for the employees who have to do 8 hours in that atmosphere. For that reason I...
