Calendula — Restaurant in Oxford Township

The PERFECT Parents Weekend Dinner! ​Calendula was the absolute highlight of our Parents Weekend trip to Miami University! We were looking for something a bit more upscale than the usual spots, and Calendula delivered a fantastic, big-city dining experience right in Oxford. ​From the vibrant, colorful atmosphere to the incredibly creative Mexican/Latin American cuisine, everything was top-notch. The cocktails were bright and inventive (highly recommend anything with pineapple or mango!), and the food was delicious. We especially loved the elevated tacos (like the Birria or the Carne Asada—so flavorful!) and the small plates. ​The service was attentive and friendly, even though the restaurant was packed. It truly felt like a special occasion meal. If you're visiting Oxford and want a beautiful ambiance, unique drinks, and amazing food, Calendula is the place. We'll definitely be back next time...

If you want to pay $50 to eat nothing come here! My boyfriend and I both ordered birria ramen ($17), which miraculously had neither birria nor ramen. I'm sure everyone knows what ramen noodles look like. However, upon being served my meal at calendula I was disappointed to see a bowl of noodles chopped up so small that it looked like it was prepared for a teething toddler. The meat is not birria but something mimicking a english roast beef.

I wanted to like this place so bad, I'm genuinely so upset right now it's not even funny. I've never been to a "restaurant" that has failed to provide me with an actual meal. I showed up hungry and left still hungry (for context I'm 5'4" and 115 lbs), what I was served was far below a normal portion of food. I wish we just went to charra. Stopped in for dinner and drinks with 3 other friends. Shrimp tacos and the chai guy cocktail for dinner was great! Finished off with the bunuelos for dessert - fried tortillas with cinnamon and maple and whipped cream. YUM! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for the next step up in terms of food in Oxford!
