I was here last Sunday during fall break, and I ordered a vegetarian dish D which was supposed to come with a bean burrito, an enchilada, and most importantly a chalupa. What I got was an enchilada, a cheese quesadilla, and a tostada. So I told the waiter that I don’t think I got the right food and tell him what I was supposed to get. Instead of fixing it, he tried to convince me that the enchilada, which looked exactly like the enchilada that was sitting on my wife’s plate, was actually a bean burrito. Alright, sure. We can call it that. It did have beans in it. And then he told me the tostada was a chalupa. I’m not saying I know more than the Mexican guy about Mexican food, but google chalupa and then google tostada. They aren’t even similar-looking. I was most upset about this because I really wanted a chalupa and the tostada I got was pitiful anyway. Then I’m left with the cheese quesadilla which was supposed to be an enchilada. I told him “This is a cheese quesadilla. The meal doesn’t come with a cheese quesadilla” while holding up the quesadilla, and he just kept asking “You want a cheese quesadilla?” Dude no. I clearly have a cheese quesadilla. What I really want is the chalupa. I just ate it because there was no getting through to him, but it was cold by then and also not what I ordered. And to top it off, they didn’t ask to refill our drinks until we asked...
Read moreLunch at El Burrito Loco was not a memorable experience. The music and ambiance inside the restaurant is decidedly Mexican, with colorful, ornate tables and booths. If somebody were to ask you to draw the most quintessential stylistic interior of a Mexican restaurant, they would draw El Burrito Loco. The outdoor patio, however, was generic, with no hint of music, perhaps due to city ordinances. The extensive menu seems to contain most traditional Mexican food items.
The food looked great, especially the steak fajitas, but it was not especially flavorful. The salsa provided with the free tortilla chips was great, however, and the quantities of food provided were ample. The prices were, unfortunately, considerably higher than in the online menu, leading to slight disappointment upon receiving the menu in the restaurant.
The house-made horchata is EXTREMELY sweet, so you may want to dilute it with ice water. By default, it will be served with ice. Be sure to specify whether you want corn tortillas with your fajita. Our server didn't ask. If you run out of tortillas, you can always use the generously-sized tortilla chips.
El Burrito Loco offers a reasonably priced lunch menu of average Mexican cuisine in an inviting indoor environment. Were I to return, I would ask for a selection of sauces to...
Read moreCame here after graduation at Miami University. Their grilled chicken is my favorite. No weird shredded chicken will work for me, so I love their whole pieces of well flavored chicken. Chips and salsa are super good, so is the guacamole! Had to ask multiple times for more salsa and chips and napkins for our party of 8. Not sure why they are so stingy on the napkins. With only 2 baskets of chips and 2 bowls, everyone was dripping to get it to their mouth lol! When they finally brought napkins there were only 6 of them smh. The food came out super fast. Restrooms were clean, although the toilet seat was broken (totally off the hinges) and the sink was full of water. I informed a worker at the office looking area, and he thanked me for letting them know about the sink. Place was busy but still able to hear conversations at the table which was a big plus! We prefer this Mexican restaurant to another well-known one in Oxford. Quality of food is just...
