Slackers delivers a solid diner-style experience—clean, friendly, and reasonably well-executed, though not without room for improvement.
Food
Burgers & Sandwiches: The charbroiled burgers are cooked well, with a range of classic varieties including green chili, pastrami, and buffalo options. They’re consistently satisfying—flavorful bun, properly cooked patty—but fall short of being exceptional.
Sides & Extras: Beer-battered onion rings and curly or sweet potato fries are enjoyable and crunchy, though they don’t stand out. Ice cream offerings are a welcome bonus, though considered on the pricier side for what they are.
Pricing
Prices fall on the higher end for a counter-service burger joint—expect around $20+ for a cheeseburger combo with a drink.
While not exorbitant, diners may feel they’re paying a premium for solid but unremarkable food.
Ambience & Service
The atmosphere is clean and casual, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Staff are generally courteous, though service speed and consistency can vary.
Peak times may bring a lively crowd, but some diners note that smile-free service and occasional chilly responses can happen.
Pros
Reliable, well-grilled burgers with an appealing range of toppings
Crisp sides and complimentary free refills on sodas
Clean and casual environment with a friendly vibe
Cons
Prices feels a bit steep for a counter-order burger spot
The food is solid but doesn’t excite me—nothing particularly memorable
Small inconsistencies in service and occasional bland food reports
Overall Verdict Slackers is a dependable, mid-tier burger joint—one where you can count on a decent, freshly grilled meal and clean setting. It’s a solid option for lunch after touring Lake Powell or Horseshoe Bend, but don’t expect standout flavors for the price. Recommended for casual dinners, but those seeking standout value might explore other local eateries.
Suggested Improvements
Consider adjusting the price-to-value balance by introducing a value combo or adding a house-made touch (e.g., signature sauce or specialty side).
Standardize service warmth and pace, especially during...
Read moreI moved to AZ years ago, and when I lived in that area, we went out to eat there a lot. We then moved to another area of Az and didn't get to go as often as we liked as it was a long drive. When we had business to attend to yesterday (1-15-2024) in Page, I searched online to make sure they had made it through Covid, and I was so excited to see they had. They have amazing food and a great atmosphere. I even suggested they expand to my area 2 hours away, lol. They have a large selection of amazing food. My husband had the Navajo Taco, and it was easily 10 to 12 inches round, he thinks. It completely covered his plate. I had a mushie burger (mushroom burger 🍔), which was so divine, and we had mozzarella sticks and onion rings. In talking to one of the employees he said the mom is who makes the Navajo flat bread, and my husband loved how it was perfectly soft for his jaw but still held its form for the purpose of the food. We looked at the menu online, and it was true to the menu in store, so we were able to know ahead of time what was offered and what the prices were. They can accommodate large groups as they have a second dining room in the back and the patio outside.
I definitely ❤️ suggest that if you're in Page Az, you must try this hometown feel and mom and pop shop. They actually are amazing people with great food. We will be back there in Feb 2024 & we will be stopping there again. I will ❤️ to order from them anytime I'm in Page!!! I hope the owners read this and seriously consider expanding closer to me 😉😁. Next month, I will add photos as I didn't think about it yesterday and just...
Read moreIf you are passing through Page, AZ or staying by Lake Powell, you have to stop by this local restaurant! First of all, we loved the mozzarella sticks. I ordered them thinking my wife and I would be the only ones to eat them, but our young kids attacked them as well. Would have been nice if there had been more of them for the price, though. My wife got the classic burger, which she said was really good, and onion rings. I got the Navajo taco with fresh jalapeños added (and was impressed that they offered fresh and pickled options). It was very flavorful and the fry bread has great flavor and texture. Plenty of chili and veggies on top. The only negative was that they only gave a tiny cup of salsa that barely covered a small portion of the taco. The chicken tenders are also excellent. I finished off the last one that my kids didn’t eat and the flavor was so good and the breaking perfectly crispy that it didn’t even need to be dipped in any sauce/condiment. Also, don’t miss out on the fries either; both taste and texture...
