Do yourself a favor and book with the wonderful people of Lake Powell Scenic Tours. After years of entering the lottery to hike the wave we finally won for a hike December of 2024. Being east coast residents and unused to hiking in the south west or at this altitude we decided to enlist the help of a guide. My wife found Tyler at Lake Powell scenic Tours, and what a win that was! He was communicative, and kind, with suggestions on where to stay in town, other things to see and do, and what to bring. On the morning of the hike, he picked us up from the hotel. We found him parked at the front door, standing outside of the Truck like a chauffer 5 minutes early in 20 degree weather. We made introductions as he helped us with our bags. During the 45 minute trip out to the trail head he made recommendations on other hikes and things to see in the area. We were intrigued By White pocket, Toadstool hoodoos and others, we may have to make a trip back in the future. He and his truck made easy work of the road to the trailhead. When we arrived he suggested we use the facilities before we began, while we were doing so he posted our pass in the windshield, and signed us in on the trails log book. Once we gathered our bags, and we all were situated. He led us off down the trail after a bit It became apparent that we had made a great choice. This area is absolutely beautiful, but so much looks like another, navigation would be difficult for people like us unfamiliar with the area. yes we could have employed a GPS, maps, compass, but neither would provided the kind of care Tyler did. As a life long resident of the area he offered advice and instruction well beyond where to go. He routinely offered insight of the best paths, where and how to step and a hand along the way. This was so greatly appreciated, I don't know that I can convey the piece of mind it brought. Along the trek he often stopped for breaks, and to explain the local wildlife, plants, trees(yes there are trees, but not like we know back east) and the geology of the area. He stopped along the way to show us so much but my favorite may be Dinosaur tracks, and to be honest we probably would have missed them by ourselves. The whole way he was taking pictures and offering insight and encouragement. When we arrived at the wave he took many pictures not only for us, but while we rested and enjoyed the experience of being at the the wave, he kindly offered to take pictures for a few other other hikers as well. He led us up to the second wave, explained about some of the water pools and life in them. Took more pictures at overlooks and led us out through a slot canyon. The trip back was modified slightly for the downhill portion to make it easier. As my wife got tired he started to slow the pace and even offered to carry her bag. When we got back to the truck he offered, water and snacks. On the way back to the hotel in Page he offered insight about more attractions we couldn't see in the dark that morning, local geology, industry and events. I feel strongly that Tyler from Lake Powell Scenic tours was the difference for us having a incredible experience, a good time, or potentially much worse. Do yourself a favor consider booking with Lake Powell Scenic tours.

Read moreOur family adventure to The Wave was transformed into an unforgettable experience, thanks to Tyler, our exceptional guide. From the outset, Tyler demonstrated his commitment to our comfort and safety, picking us up bright and early from our Airbnb, which was a highly appreciated service.
Tyler's patience and attentiveness were unparalleled. Given the strenuous nature of the hike, his constant check-ins were a reassurance, especially for my elderly mother and myself. Despite my knee problems and being far from a seasoned hiker, Tyler's guidance made every step feel manageable and safe.
What set Tyler apart was not just his professionalism but also his profound knowledge of the terrain. Throughout our hike to The Wave, he pointed out numerous fascinating details about the landscape, enriching our understanding and appreciation of this natural wonder. His insights turned what could have been a mere physical challenge into an educational and enjoyable adventure.
But Tyler's service didn't stop at guiding. He brought a personal touch to the experience by recording videos, taking pictures, and even crafting a short recap video of our day's hike. This not only captured our memories in the most beautiful way but also showcased his dedication and passion for his role.
Furthermore, Tyler’s punctuality and professional demeanor were evident throughout. He managed the logistics flawlessly, ensuring that our focus remained on the experience rather than worrying about timings or directions.
We wholeheartedly recommend Tyler to anyone looking for a private guide to The Wave. His expertise and warmth make him a perfect companion for exploring the wonders of Page, Arizona. Read moreAfter three years of attempting to secure a permit through the advanced lottery, I was fortunate enough to obtain one for four individuals to visit The Wave on Oct. 1. I invited three friends to join me on this adventure.
Although October temperatures were expected to range from the high 70s to 80 degrees, this year's weather remained unusually warm, with a forecasted high of 92 degrees on the day of our hike. To mitigate the heat, Tyler suggested commencing our journey at 6am instead of the initially planned 7am, which proved to be very wise! The temperature was at 53 degrees when we started the hike and it was 86 degrees when we finished. If we had started at 7am, the temperature would have been close to 90 on our way out.
As we were based in Kanab, Utah, rather than Page, Arizona, we met Tyler at Rock House Junction. His vehicle is very clean and capable, and also full of snacks for us to bring on to the hike.
Throughout our interaction, Tyler demonstrated exceptional professionalism, knowledge, and a personable demeanor. Along the way, Tyler gave us information on history of The Wave and how it was formed. His commitment to safety was evident throughout the trip, ensuring our comfort and well-being from pickup to completion. Tyler's preparation was impressive, even providing icy water during the latter half of the hike.
He also offered expert guidance on photography, capturing memorable moments with his GoPro and taking numerous photos of our group. The post-tour video he compiled served as a touching keepsake. Thanks to Tyler's expert guidance, we were well-prepared and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend his...
