Black Bear in Palmdale truly impressed me with their exceptional customer service! I had previously left a negative review due to an unpleasant evening (see below) , but the team didn't just stop at apologizing - they took concrete steps to make it right. Rosalina M. General Manager for this location reached out to me, listened to my concerns, and offered a generous compensation. It's clear that they value their customers' feedback and are committed to providing an outstanding dining experience. I'm thrilled to see that they're dedicated to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. Kudos for turning a negative experience into a positive one! I recently visited Black Bear Diner expecting a hearty meal, but unfortunately, my experience fell short in multiple ways. The corn on the cob I ordered was inedible due to its rotten state, which was extremely disappointing. Additionally, the salmon was overcooked and dry, lacking flavor and moisture. To make matters worse, the atmosphere of the diner felt eerie and unsettling, which made it difficult to enjoy my meal. The service was also slow, which added to the frustration. What really caught my attention, though, was when I overheard another customer order the "All You Can Eat Fish Friday" special. From what I could tell, their fish was deep-fried to a dark brown color, which seemed excessive and potentially burnt.(I didn’t get pictures of their meal) Given the issues I experienced with my own meal, it's concerning that the kitchen might be overcooking their fish dishes and serving food been past its freshness or not stored properly, leading to spoilage. Given Black Bear Diner's reputation for serving classic American comfort food, I hope the management takes steps to address these issues and improve food quality, service, and overall ambiance. Until then, I wouldn't recommend visiting.

My self and my family tried this new place called Black Bear Diner. You can guess what type of theme it is. All bears, and the food they serve is fit for the hungry bear inside! Very traditional ambience yet, retro. They use newspaper for a menu along with the story of the Diner. They also have a gift shop which we don't see out in the AntelopeValley. This makes me feel like a travler with new experiences. This is the third time we have came here. They are very accommodating and hospitable. If you have food allergies like my wife they will accommodate so dont be shy to ask. Now about the food, If you are in the mood to eat meat, I suggest the Santa Maris Tri-tip with veggies and red skin mashed potato with country gravy strong on the black pepper. The tri-tip is very juicy tender and flavorful. You can taste olive oil, salt and black pepper, with a hint of light smokiness. I got mine rare, very tender easy to cut and slow roasted. Drink a must try huckleberry tea!. The corn bread they served is large and in charge. It is served warm with butter, will give Marie calander a run for there money. If you are in the mood for sandwich try there grilled Ruben though it's salty. Wife had a handburger salad which was large portion she added avocado. To drink sweet tea, southern style! Price is very reasonable and the food portion is large. They also have options of smaller portion if you are not that hungry. They surve breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day. I will be going here again soon!

Decided to try Black Bear Diner for our late lunch and we weren't disappointed! 😀 The inside is pretty cool and definitely bear-themed. And everything was so tasty! I had huckleberry lemonade, which, since a huckleberry is similar to a blueberry, it was no surprise that it tasted like blueberry lemonade but also a little like pink lemonade (which is a total fave of mine!) 😀 For my meal, I had the country red potatoes which came with peppers and caramelized onions, a perfect tiny bowl of chicken noodle soup (which had lovely egg noodles, celery, carrots and the best chicken broth I've had in ages!), and a secret-recipe sweet cream waffle. Bro had one of their limited time sandwiches, We Be Jammin, and it came with fries, which were delicious. And then for dessert he HAD to get a bear claw (😁), but we also got cheesecake to try (and she nicely put the raspberry syrup and freah strawberries separately, so I could try the cheesecake by itself ☺️), and I swear it tasted exactly like our fave cheesecake from our youth that we've never had any other cheesecake since taste like! Uh-ma-ZING! 😀 And then I had the Huckleberry ice cream for dessert and it was so yummy. Perfectly smooth and creamy and the prettiest purple color 😍 Now we're stuffed and we've got half of everything (except the ice cream, lol) as leftovers to take home!

Too bad Palmdale isn’t the one to go to. The minute we walked in we were greeted thrice with how many? two we said within 5 seconds we were asked again by three more napkin folding greeters. Sat at our table to over hear the table across from us ask why one of the meals “still” haven’t been brought out, then watched two waitresses reason with the patron and an assistant manager. Still hoping for the best I ordered a sweet tea nope they brought regular oops again flavored tea not sweet tea- you know what ms waitress I’ll just have plain tea. Food arrived without the traditional salad first… hymmm I’m eating my food really don’t want the salad now” well it comes with your meal you can just throw it out if you don’t want to eat it while arguing with me and throwing back attitude, what?. Manager please- oh so she told you about us mr manager sir would you like to hear about our experience? In the end he compted the teas made some comments about training staff, newly opened and new promotion for himself(congratulations) but we still won’t return the food was okay not typical Black Bear Diner quality nor size meals, yes newly open give them that still the customer service was poor not bad. Thought he should know he tried to fist bump us at the end… uh no thanks and thank you.

06/11/2024 BREE has made us believers let me just update this review:

Great waitress (Bree) made the return visit sensational. I cannot speak enough about how many times my husband and I go out to eat and have bad service but NOT here! Bree was welcoming, her demeanor was pleasant, she knew the menu and drinks very well and made suggestions with knowledge and understanding of what we wanted and I loved it! She was on point with her service not overbearing or rude. She was there to refill our drinks with a smile and brought our meal promptly paying attention to details. When we first walked in we noticed the place was empty at dinner time (5:30pm) and almost left except decided to stay. As we were seated we noticed several tables that looked like patrons had been there recently. It was clean and quiet. The food was good as were the prices. I had the fish and chips with sweet potato fries( didn’t know I could do that…thank you Bree) and coleslaw which was good, husband had a burger cooked to his liking with French fries that were not over cooked or salted. We had a good dinner and the customer service was icing on the cake! Bree asked if we wanted dessert and offered to box it up for us(thank you Bree!) of course we took her recommendations and brought home bread pudding and carrot cake which is very good!( thank you Bree!) I cannot thank Bree enough for giving us top notch service hopefully this establishment will encourage her to promote to management because if they don’t she should go where she can shine-she IS that good. I know as I to am a food manager and would hire her as part of my management team quick fast and in a hurry. I spoke to her supervisor to let her know our thoughts, she was courteous but I am not sure she is vested. Thank you Bree for the meal and...

came in around one for lunch on a Saturday! They had so many open tables but a 55 minute wait. The lady who claimed to be the manager Maria is beyond rude. I’m not exactly sure who gave her this much power because it’s very clear it has gone to her head. As I sit at my table, not enjoying my meal watching the way that she talks to the employees was a shocker. The heart and soul of this restaurant was Westley and Ryan, and instead of this company, keeping them on board to ensure that this restaurant was being represented by people that truly cared about the community they’ve hired new people who don’t care nearly as much and it seems like as soon as Westley and Ryan left and where no longer involved at this location the service went down. When I come now it’s a ghost town now but this restaurant used to be so busy which me someone made a BIG mistake by letting go of the heart and soul of this restaurant Ryan and Westley! They truly knew how to connect with the community. Westley would go out of his way to make sure that everybody felt so welcomed and so loved. I have come to this platform to leave positive reviews for Westley because of his outstanding service he truly was the example of somebody that was passionate about this restaurant Ryan was just as equally passionate. It’s such a shame to see both of these people gone and the restaurant suffering, so badly once theyleft. I used to come to this restaurant specifically for Ryan and Westley‘s amazing service with them both gone this location is going to struggle massively and after speaking to the general manager Luis, I can see why Westley and Ryan would not want to work for this guy because he doesn’t care at all about the success of this restaurant eight seem like he had something better to do than to actually listen to my complaints about his manager Maria. horrible food, horrible service, horrible management. I would be so surprised if this restaurant made it a second year.. I hope this makes it to corporate and not to the general manager. I’m really hoping corporate sees this review and make some big changes before they’re shutting down this location the first big change they need to make is get rid of their general manager, and get rid of this lady Maria, because they are not the right people to be representing a restaurant with so...

I love Black Bear Dinner and was very excited to have one locally now. I usually go to Santa Clarita’s location but when I travel, I always make a stop at a different location. I will say that this place when you dine in is very nice, the people are very sweet, but it takes longer than usual. Today I chose to take advantage of my birthday reward but the code for online kept giving me issues. So I call but the line rings and no answer until an answering machine picks up. Then I call two more times, same thing. Finally on the fourth call someone answers but as Im talking to them they put me on hold. Then after a few moments tells me to wait. I can tell they’re busy, and I understand. I start to ask her why the online code might be giving me trouble if I followed the instructions the email for my birthday rewards sent me. She says that they must be mistaken but they don’t do that. Odd, since it’s clear as day on the email. Then I ask if I can place the order through the phone then and just pick up (like I have done in other locations easily) and just show the barcode in store. I could send my husband since I am home with the baby. She said that they can’t do that , that I have to place my order there. I was already upset since I have never experienced this at other Black Bear Diner locations, especially for a simple birthday reward. Now I asked if I can speak to a manager about this situation instead. The girl puts me on hold, then let’s me know her manager isn’t available. She proceeds to let me know to call back later. So obviously she wants me to call about four more times to get through. I asked her to give the manager my number instead(as they should do things). I was baffled at how this business runs and their lack of customer service on the phone and front desk. If I can’t be assisted on the easiest birthday reward task, I just need to go back to Santa Clarita. They have always been great with that reward and with all our family breakfast meals!!! Or if you’re local… just go to Chelly’s,...
