On January 19th, while hanging out with friends, we wanted to go to Hashtag because we love the food and hospitality there—it’s always next level. Every time I visit Las Vegas, we make sure to eat at Hashtag Indian Restaurant
However, this time, we found out that Hashtag was closed. Since we were craving Indian food, we decided to try Desi Chowrasta Las Vegas, as it was the nearest option. When we called, they confirmed they were open, so we placed an order for three goat pulaos and one chicken biryani. They told us the food would take 15-20 minutes, so we waited and arrived at the restaurant after 25 minutes.
When we got there, the food still wasn’t ready. When I asked about it, they said, “Just 5 more minutes.” After waiting another 5 minutes, I got frustrated and asked again, as we were in a hurry—some of our friends were waiting outside, and we had plans to go to a club. Again, they said, “Just 5 more minutes.”
After nearly half an hour, we finally got our goat pulao, but it was cold and tasted awful—the worst I’ve ever had. The chicken biryani still hadn’t arrived. I asked them again about it, explaining that it wasn’t fair for three of us to be eating while one person had no food. They again told me, “Just 2 more minutes.”
After waiting another 5 minutes, I asked again, and they repeated, “2 more minutes.” Eventually, we gave up on waiting for the biryani and decided to share the goat pulao among the four of us. We finished eating, and just as we were about to leave—20 to 30 minutes later—they finally brought out the chicken biryani. At that point, we had lost all patience. We had a couple of spoons, but we left most of the food behind because we were so frustrated with the service and the quality.
To make things worse, throughout our time there, we had to call the staff multiple times just to get water, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. The service was horrible, and the food was even worse.
The final bill was around $120, which was shocking considering the terrible experience. It felt like a complete waste of money.
Overall, this was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. I’m never coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to...
Read moreThis was the highlight of our food journey on our trip in the US. This was the 4th of July long weekend, we went for lunch on the Sunday (6th Jul) unknowingly about the fan-following this restaurant has and we were in for a shock. There was a queue extending outside the restaurant, even at 44C and for a reason. The queue moved quick and within 5-10 mins we were lucky to get a table for 3. The restaurant does smart business by making their service buffet style, no ala-carte hence not much personalised table service needed. And because of the long weekend, and lunch time hours (we reached around 1pm), the restaurant was bursting to its seams with crowd packed to capacity, many of whom were lurking around tables, waiting for them to vacate. The queue for the food was quite long as well, some food items were getting over even before it can be refilled. My son waited for 20 mins for the naans to be refilled. We couldn't get the mango souffle or the idlis as it kept disappearing within mins of arriving and it took forever to refill, till we just got tired of waiting. And in the middle of all of this, the bathroom was not working, the wash basin had clogged with no one having the time to fix it. However, what makes this restaurant awesome and what made our visit special was the food spread and the authenticity and remarkable taste of every item served. We tried the fish apollo, chicken 65, butter chicken, goat curry, chicken dum biriyani, lamb biriyani, yellow daal, rasam, sambar. Everything tasted great, like right from the restaurants of Hyderabad or Bangalore! Even though the spice levels were slightly elevated to cater for Indians visiting the restaurant, there were enough non-Indians eating the food and raving about the taste. Overall if you can ignore the crowd (owing to the 4th of Jul weekend), this restaurant is an absolute blast for the money they charge per head for the feast they provide. Inspite of the wait times, I would personally visit this restaurat again and again, whenever I visit Vegas again! Must try for its true Indian taste, not...
Read moreDuring our recent trip to Las Vegas, we had the opportunity to enjoy a buffet at this cozy spot conveniently located within walking distance of the famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign. If you're planning a visit to the sign, this place makes for a great stop before or after your photo op.
Though the restaurant itself is relatively small, the setup is thoughtfully organized. The spacing between tables is generous, which is especially appreciated during a buffet experience where guests frequently walk to and from the food counters. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed—not crowded at all, possibly due to it being a weekday visit.
The staff were polite and attentive, contributing positively to the overall dining experience.
Buffet Highlights: Non-Vegetarian Dishes: Butter Chicken, Cashew Chicken, Chicken Curry, Chicken Malai Kabab, Chicken Manchurian, Baby Corn Manchurian, Roti, and Biryani Rice.
Vegetarian Options: Butter paneer, Bhendi (oakra), Pulao, Plain Rice, and Daal.
Desserts: Kheer, Fruit Custard, Gulab jam, Oranges.
Sides & Condiments: Three varieties of chutneys, onions, lemons, pickles, papad, and French fries, spring roll.
The food was generally flavorful, and we particularly enjoyed the butter chicken and kababs. However, the biryani was a bit mild for those with a preference for spicier dishes like myself. Also some food dishes were not available when I went for my second round.
Our bill for two adults and one child came to $66.93, which included an 18% gratuity. While this felt slightly on the higher side for a weekday buffet, the quality of food, location, and hospitality helped balance the value.
The rating is based on food quality, service, hospitality, cleanliness, location, vibe and price
Final Verdict: A tidy, well-managed buffet with a solid range of Indian dishes and a prime location. Worth a visit, especially if you're planning a stop at the...
