I recently visited the Mandalay Bay spa in Las Vegas for a massage appointment that my fiancé had kindly booked for me. Unfortunately, my experience was somewhat disappointing. Upon arrival, despite my fiancé placing her card on file to be charged for the massage, the spa requested that I provide my card and ID for the payment. This unexpected request was inconvenient and took some time to resolve, which was frustrating.
Upon arrival, I was taken to a couples massage room that was uncomfortably cold. It wasn't until 30 minutes into the massage that I had to request the masseuse to heat up the bed. It surprised me that this had not been addressed prior to the start of the massage, and it definitely affected my overall comfort and enjoyment of the experience.
What struck me as odd was that no one followed up to inquire about my experience, which left me feeling overlooked and undervalued as a customer. However, I must note that the spa itself was beautiful, and the sauna, pool, and Jacuzzi were all very impressive. Unfortunately, the massage itself was only average, and considering the price of $240, I have to say that I've had better massages for less elsewhere. In my opinion, the experience did not live up to the cost, and I left feeling that it was not worth...
Read moreThe spa is made up of several parts. There's the "cardio" center, which is basically a bunch of tread mills, and then some free weights in a different section. There's also the actual, what I would call, spa, which is a location that is separate and is staffed and can provide massages and other spa like services.
The thing to note here is that the gym portion is very small and somewhat disappointing for how big of a hotel it is. There are dumbbells which go up in five pound increments up to 75, and then the long dumbbells which are fixed weight barbells that go up to 110 lbs. There are two bench's, which are adjustable from flat to 90 degrees, and a few soft mats to do assorted plyometrics on.
What's nice is they had two tvs which both were playing old episodes of Friends (the TV show),it even had closed captioning on.
They provide little bottles of water (take as many as you want) and a really fancy cold water dispenser. They also had 2 ellipticals and a stair stepper. But there was about 12 tread mills, which is clearly what they are trying to push here.
Overall they could have more weights for the gym area, but I was still am to get some kind of exercise which is better than I was expecting.

Read moreThe Spa at Mandalay Bay is great. It's not the fanciest or most updated (they still give out locker room keys, which hardly any place does). However, for the price it cannot be beat on the strip. Most services are under 200 dollars and the place is large.
They recently put in a 3-nozzle steamer in the steam room. It was a little temperamental with the sensor, but when the steam room got going, it was glorious. Extreme heat with moisture-laden humidity that will detoxify even the most extreme degenerate Vegas evenings from the night before.
The Spa is large, and I mean spacious. It's a tad outdated but the island waterfall hot tub still holds a little class. My only complaint is that the jets were not strong enough, but that's a common complaint in the Spa hot tub world.
The staff was courteous and attentive throughout the entire time. If you have the pass for the day, the Spa is located right next to the pool entrance in case you want to get that sunshine on for a bit in-between the experience. This is the most resort style casino that MGM has. If you are looking for that relaxing day in Vegas, I would recommend...
