When I first drove by this place, I was excited that we might have a Costa Rican restaurant or fresh juice and healthy options, like Pura Vida in Florida. Found out it's gringo Mexican fast food, but decided to give it a try. I was deciding where to order a steak salad today, as I need the iron and protein, so I opted for their salad with steak, and some cheese enchiladas. Whoever is responsible for the quality of the food here should probably try ordering for themselves the cheese enchiladas. I had to have them reheat it two times more, trying to melt the cheese. After 3 times, it still was cold in the center, and the GMO corn tortillas that I subbed out were HARD! I couldn't eat it with a fork. I had to pick it up and knaw on it like a sandwich, because it was too tough. I figured the steak salad couldn't go wrong... I literally couldn't eat it, though I tried. The steak tastes like liver... I know liver is healthy, but this isn't liver. It's just bloody??? Very bad flavor, although it's seasoned. Dressing tastes like bottled ranch, blended with some other ingredients. So, msg. It's fast food... what do I expect? It didn't have cotija cheese, as advertised. The only good thing that I can say is that the staff is very sweet, they have fresh jalapeños, and offer soda water at the soda fountain. Literally just threw away $, when I was trying to eat healthy and save money. I definitely won't be back... re: the pic, they put the steak on the bottom. I can't eat this liver flavored salad. 😫 À...
Read moreWe tried this place yesterday for the first time. The menu seems to be a slightly stripped down version of Cafe Rio. The food we got was less greasy than Rio and seemed pretty fresh. We ordered quesadillas and would have liked sour cream or something else to dip them in but the ordering process was a little weird. After we selected protein and type of beans, they said they would assemble and cook the quesadillas behind the counter against the back wall and we could go ahead and pay. We expected to then be able to request condiments but they then said they would bring the food to our table. There were people behind us so we didn’t get a chance to ask and the staff never asked if we wanted anything but the chicken and cheese that was in our quesadillas so they were pretty plain. With that said, the food was good. The refried beans were kind of soupy - so much I couldn’t use a fork and had to go get a spoon but they tasted good. My biggest disappointment is that they had no iced tea so we ended up just drinking water. The parking lot is a little weird. Fine if you’re coming westbound but difficult to get to if headed eastbound. We had to drive through the gas station parking lot next door. If they work on the ordering process and add iced tea we would eat here all the time as it’s...
Read moreWe were welcomed as soon as we walked in the door. My daughter ordered the kids grilled chicken quesadilla and chips and salsa. The salsa Fresca has great flavor and isn’t too spicy quite mild in fact. I had only ordered a flour tortilla, but it tasted like homemade and I know that taste because my daughter makes them. I even bought a dozen to take home since we won’t be back on that side of town until next week. The only thing I had an issue with was the cashier charged me for a regular drink when I asked for a cup for water because I saw that they had seltzer water. On the upside my daughter enjoyed the quesadilla, the chicken had good flavor not overly salted like some of the other Mexican food chains in Vegas and across the country. The managers were very friendly and came to the table several times to talk to us. One manager explained that everything is made in house, not a microwave in sight. I did try to order the flan but they didn’t have any. They also said there is going to be a celebration party over the weekend. We will definitely be coming back and even recommending Costa Vida to family and friends. We live on the west side of town and only knew about it when dropping my student off at...
